Broken phone, what to do?

I've been stuck with my LG C1500 phone since March of last year. At first it was fine and all, even though it already seemed outdated and old.

Then it started giving me ****ty reception, dropping calls and such. One time, in the middle of writing a text message, the inside screen blacked out, and the outside screen was just blank. I could still recieve calls, and even make calls if I knew what I was doing. This lasted about 2 days, then the inside screen decided to work. Then the outside.

Just yesterday, I took my phone out of my pocket to check the time, only to find that the phone thinks it's open (upside down cingular thing on outside screen). Not that bad.. just set it to answer by button. A few minutes later, I check to see if i...

I sorry about the answer you got from that other guy. Some people should refrain from replying if they have nothing nice to say.
🙄
Call CS and tell them that you have a C1500 (I think most CSR know that that phone was crappy) Talk to them and if you're nice to them they probably let you upgrade earlier.
P.S Next time try not to get a lower end LG

Haha, I actually let out a chuckle at that response.

I'll definitely try to get a hold of AT&T's CS tomorrow. Is there anything specific I need to know, or that they'll need to know? How often do people from this site end up getting early upgrades from situations like this do you think?

The only reason I got this phone was because my parents thought that this was all I needed, which was for the most part true. I REALLY wanted a camera phone (hoping for one with semi-good video since I skate and may want a certain trick filmed on the spot). For my next phone, I'm going to plan on spending a bit of money (definitely not without research) so I don't get stuck with the same problem two years from now.

Our upgrade policy has changed, so you may actually be eligible without even knowing it. Call them up and explain to them that the phone just quit working. I would definitely suggest the new SE W580. I know that the phone is new and all, but it's a SE... I know they make great products and I trust them a lot.

Wow, I've been keeping an eye on that phone for a while, hoping it would come to AT&T. I was so happy to see it finally did a few days ago. Kind of an odd coincidence.

I may already be eligible for an upgrade you say? Even if it says otherwise on my account page on AT&T? Definitely giving them a call then!

Thanks for the quick responses, I really have nothing better to do at this hour than read for answers to this problem.

Definitely call, or go into a store and see what your upgrade elgibility is. I've been able to upgrade a lot of customers early in the last few weeks thanks to this.

How early in most cases? I don't want to get my hopes up seeing as mine is all the way in November? And will anyone be there today (Labor day?)?

Well I just got back from a nearby AT&T store, and they said only upgrade options were wait until November, or shell out another $75 to do it early. I don't know if the phone I'm using as a temporary replacement will last much longer than a few days, let alone until November. I really can't see paying an EXTRA $75 on top the price of a phone that won't die on me like this one has.

Soo.. is the phone customer support THAT much more lenient with the upgrades or am I screwed here?

Well I just got done with the seemingly endless phone cycle. Nothing new really. They basically said the same thing I heard in the store a hundred times over. Not to mention the woman I was speaking to for the majority of the time was harder than hell to understand.

One thing that I hadn't heard in the AT&T store was something about if I get some "past due" fees paid I'd be eligible for a "No commitment equipment upgrade" or something like that, which sounded kind of like bullshit to me, because she said something about a 2 year contract extention (which sounds to me like commitment).

At the moment I have a phone about as useful as a brick and a nearly dead replacement phone with no charger, with basically no options other than pay o...

I've had a problem similar to this before.

I'm sure you probably know this, but you could try buying a cheap GSM phone off of eBay in the mean time while you wait for your upgrade and just pop your SIM card in and your good to go.

Bobbeh-I'm feeling for you. I work for corporate ATT and upgrade many customers much earlier than approved by our upgrade policy. First pay any past due bills to get current. Next, if you aren't the account holder get your dads last four social and threaten to cancel service immediately with all lines, they will transfer you to a save team and someone will work with you. What market are you in?
