Financial Problems. How mean will at&t be?

LockItUp

I have had some financial problems and my at&t bill is 933.00. Phone is obviously suspended. How long will they give me to pay it before they assess a cancellation fee?

Call up, start crying, and ask to be put on a payment plan.

Tried that. They said because my bill was late a few times that I am not eligible for a payment arrangement.

Well, you obviously can't pay the full amount at one time. Just go ahead and make payments on it even though they don't want you to put you on a payment plan. Most people have experienced some financial diffcutly at one time. Just pay what you can until its paid off.

I'm sorry to see anyone go through financial problems, but why would you keep using your phone? You say that you haven't been able to pay your bill in a few months, so why would you continue to use it? I mean, you have to realize that the bill is just adding up..getting bigger and bigger. How were you planning to pay for it? Sometimes you can't help having money problems, but you can help how you handle the situation. A cell phone is a luxury that I personally would have discontinued using if I knew I wasn't going to be able to cover the bill. You just keep digging a deeper hole otherwise.

I have not been able to use the phone, due to it being suspended. It's a family plan as well, so that makes it more expensive as well.

The person that is on the other line is going to transfer it out of my contract once I pay the money, which I should be able to do in about a week.

I love my Cingy/At&t.

True but maybe all she had was her cell phone. Most people these days don't even bother with a landline because they use their cell all the time. 🤨

Yes, I realize that. But to run up a bill of over $900.00, one of two things had to happen. She either used it for a very long time after she stopped paying the bill, or she used it very heavily. I can see maybe a month or two if you absolutely had no other choice, but I would do my darndest to keep the calls to a bare minimum so I didn't go over my plans basic charge. This doesn't sound like something that just snuck up on her.

You are right but either way all she can do is just pay off the bill in payments even though they will not put her on a payment plan. Im pretty sure she has other obligations other than just a phone bill. If she pays at least $200/mo she could have it paid off in no time.

I've seen accounts go from suspended for non-payment to cancelled with ETF in 1 bill cycle and then to an outside collection agency within 30 days.
