High-end swivel phone, where's out SE s710a?

Verizon just released the Kyocera KX2 Koi swivel style phone, with video and the whole works. Cingular is coming out with the Sony Ericsson s710a, which is a very similar phone, with the same swivel design.

Verizon was first to release the model, now where is the SE s710a for Cingular...when it comes down to competition, I hope this isn't a trend with Cingular when it comes to releasing phones. Only time will tell.

Any news on the upcoming SE s710?

I don't think anyone really knows for sure when this phone will be released. There has been a lot of speculation floating around, but I'm afraid the we can only wait unitil we see in on Cingular's website. However, I do see the phone listed on Amazon as "not stocked or has been discontinued" at a price of $419.99 before the $150.00 mail-in rebate. That is kind of strange that they would add this phone to their rebate phone with the rest of the phones listed unless they received word from Cingular that they would be receiving this phone soon for sale. I know it's a long-shot, but I'm getting very anxious for either this phone or the Moto V620 to be released.

I dont know a release date but I received a pamphlet type or booklet type circular from Cing. kind of talking about the merger, coverage, rate plans or whatever and it has the new phones in it including the s710. as well as the RAZR, Z500, V551, and the A630 so they have to be on the way since they are sending ads to my house. Also the MPx220, Siemens X66, BlackBerry 7290.

why would cingular send advertisement out to homes and the handsets not be available. unless they're being released in the next couple of days some potential customers will find that if adds are not accurate then why go with this carrier. they may just go to verizon of sprint. myelf knowing a little bit about phones would never choose kyocera swivel over se710a but people that do not know about phones will go with whats in stock. especially when reps at one cingular store i went to never heard of the sx66 and mpx220. i had to pick up the mailing in the store and show the reps in the store. for the models to be sold out is one thing but for them to not have any ideal about handsets that are in the guide sent out is discouraging to customers. ...

The phones Cingular is advertising and mailing to former AT&T customers has so-far, been misleading. Models are listed in the book that goes into detail about the merger, like the SE s710 and z500, as well as the Motorola a630. If they want to keep current subscribers and attract new ones...let's start seeing something, even one of those models sometime next week. It would be nice to see some truth to "best selection in the industry" as we start off December.

It's the holiday season...what reasons are there to switch from AT&T service if the advertised selection isn't there?

my point exactly. i need a high end phone before the end of the year. i need a phoen that could view and edit excel documents read email and view attachments, with loud ringers and a true megapixel camera. agai i agree with the fact that products should be ready when mailed to a customer. a rep in one of the stored said that they did not know when the sx66 would be released and said cingular does not tell a customer a date because then a customer would not buy a phone thatday. i would not buy a phone that did noy want that day anyway. if i am interested in the service then i will probably wait a couple of days or a week, give me something to go on. artists give tentative release dates and a lot of times they get delayed and then a new date i...

I agree, advertising and availability are two different things, especially when customers are counting on product availability. When the phones themselves are out, then tell us more about them. The customer wants to be happy with the product and service they purchase.

wait for the swivel screens to break off these mega buck toys and see the customers' blood pressure spike, though...

True, since it's a new design to the industry, it would be very tough to trust it as a sturdy model. Flip phones have been out for so long, it's no wonder they see so good. Another thing, swivel phones may not hit it off and may go down as pure "experiment."

I know - I wish they'd release it already too. Feature wise the SE blows the Kyocera out of the water as it is missing some key things. It doesn't have Bluetooth, Memory Expansion,IR, and MP3 Player. Not to mention it is a Verizon phone 🙄
