Help with employment

(I apologize in advance for the length)I've noticed a lot of members here who are either employed by certain carriers or seem to be "in-the-know" when it comes to inner workings of carriers. I have been trying to get on board with Cingular wireless for a while now, and it's become a priority because I just recently left a third-party private dealer that was not handling business correctly. My motivation is obviously income,as I really need a job, but I have been a Cingular customer for four years (best service I have ever had!) and I have tons of experience with wireless sales and product knowledge from my tenure at Best Buy and the aforementioned dealer company. For the past few weeks, when trying to apply on the net with Cingular , I've b...

Right now cingular isn't hiring with the combined forces of ATT and Cingular together, best to wait for about 6 months, just cuz there are so many reps in care plus combined sales reps in sales and combined reps in retail stores.

I live in Georgia- just north of Atlanta in between Marietta and Kennesaw. And the biggest problem I have with the situation is the fact that there are multiple openings in my area, but I can't even apply to get started. I actually applied in March of this year and had a great phone interview and sit down, but never got any answer to whether or not I got the job. After checking the status of my application, I was told I would have to apply again after October, which I've been trying to do. It's not like this is a dream job, because I know retail, and what's more, I know how wireless sales can be, but I'm good at it and I desperately need a job.

Over the last 6-8 months, I've witnessed our former-ATTWS store go from the standard 5 reps to 8 reps (in our location 5 was always standard). The company maxed out/over-hired in many other locations too, to get the most possible performance out of the store, regardless with reps personal performance. Now that the merger is done, the last possible priority on their minds for now is hiring more. It is required by law that they post an opening on line, but the way it has been for this past 6-8 months, a current employee with generally get the spot (not always, but usually)

Hang in there, good luck.

That's wild, I had no clue that they legally had to post openings. As far as current Orange employees or Blue-to-Orange employees getting first dibs on positions, I can understand that completely. I know how I used to feel when companies would hire from outside instead of taking care of people in-house first. But, as I said before, I need a job and I know I can perform well. Thanks everyone for the info so far (I'm definitely open to hearing more if anyone's got the time) I appreciate it.

peace

Well sure, it all comes down to the EEOC: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Good Luck and just keep trying...the more you build contacts, the more they will remember your name and will see you are working hard for it.
