Need good voice dialing

Hi. I'm new to this forum. It seems to have a lot of good info and consumer experience.

I'm an ATT customer with an old Motorola V551. I need a new phone and my primary criteria are:

1. Good Voice Dialing so I can use it while I'm driving.
2. Quad band so I can travel with it - in and outside the USA.
3. Blue tooth for the headset (while driving).

I really don't care about the other stuff - cameras, videos, internet, etc. (I'm over 60 ... maybe you guessed ... and I just want to make phone calls. I guess I'm not part of ATT's target market.)

Also, I'm open to getting an unlocked GSM phone. I'd even change to Verizon (the only other good carrier in my location) if I had to. I'm "out of contract" as the ATT sales people say.

Phatbasstard - thanks for the quick reply and your recommendation of the Motorola v3xx.

I am very unhappy with the voice recognition on my old Motorola V551. It misses about 30-40% of the time which causes me to screw with the phone while I'm driving - not a safe thing to do. My old old verizon phone (don't remember what type) had closer to a 80-90% hit rate. Is the v3xx voice dialing that good?

the voice dialing on the v3xx is good. You should go into a store though and try out the voice dialing on some of the phones. I work in a store and I had a lady come and and do that. (we found the v3xx to have the best) Although if you want really good voice dialing you can always get the voice clip feature, its $4.99/mon but it will work with any phone and it will work better then any phones built in voice dialing.
hope this helps

I want quadband for traveling. I travel mostly in the USA, but I do occasionally go abroad - Europe, Latin America, Asia. The Motorola website says that the V3xx is triband.

Any other suggestions for:
1. Good voice dialing with bluetooth.
2. Quadband

blackberry pearl or curve, voice dial is awesome, dont need a feature for it and you dont have to record your voice, just say the name how you have it saved in the phone

Daveyboy801 -

Thanks for your suggestion. I've heard great things about the blackberry phones ... it's just too much phone for me. I don't need the mobile internet access.

I think I'm going to go with the Nokia 6126. I can get it for $60 with a 2 year contract with ATT ... or ... I can get an unlocked version for about $190.

DO NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT go for the 6126 if you want good voicedialling! It doesn't let you record your own... it tries to sound it out from what you enter in... like those old computer programs where you type and the computer says it. IT'S AWFUL! Try an LG, the Trax or the 400... they're quad band, have good voice dial and are just overall good phones. DON'T TOUCH THE 6126 if you want good voicedial.
