Trying out GSM

ecnar9

Would it be easier to pick up a GO Phone to try out the GSM signal strenght in my area instead of going through the process of a contract for 30 days? I am thinking that the signal would be the same for both prepaid and contract phones. Also, when switching from AT&Ts TDMA to the GSM account do you have to enter into a 2 year minimum contract or are you just switching phones and signal types?
Thanks

here is a better idea find a friend that has att and invite them over. Ask to use their phone or something and see.

There is a difference, but it's all about where you are or live. Go Phones use the native network, while post paid customers get the native network plus coverage in areas where there are roaming agreements. What this means is that if you're in Florida there won't be any difference in the two, but if you're somewhere in Nevada it'll be a differnt story.

Yep. You can use the Go phone without the hassle of return or dealing with ATT Customer Service.

Thanks, Good advice. I don't have access to anyone with the service at this time. But, Go Phone has a sony ericsson j220a refurb for $9.99 Is this a good phone to try out? The price seems nice.
Thanks again

There is a difference in pick your plan coverage and regular pay as you go , set up a pick your plan you will have the same access to the network as post paid plans , so you can do a fair trial run of the network , pay as you go coverage area is a lot smaller.
