Verizon Choses LTE For 4G
Maybe the CDMA fanboys will finall shut up, after their initial years of whining about the change and how it's such a bad move.
...
LTE, UMB, EV-DO Rev. C, WiMAX.....
All of them are OFDM technologies so CDMA as an air standard is on the way to obsolescence either way.
It'll be cool though to have VZW as a roaming partner. 800MHz Carriers unite!
...
Technology has always been the main difference between att and Verizon. Now it's gonna come down to customer service.
...
****, then I guess at&t loses ;)
...
You're probably right. I wonder if att big wigs look at that announcement and realize they'll need to work on that.
...
Probably not. They're turning into WalMart. They just have one more negative going for them, in that the reason people shop at WalMart is that everything is cheap. Take that away, they'd have no business.
AT&T can't say that, sooo... =P
I shouldn't be so negative about my indirect employer, eh? Oh well.
...
I would not compare Walmart to AT&T especially since AT&T actually knows how to pay while Walmart does not.
...
att's also union. Walmart would set their store on fire rather than allow a union to form. Then they'd actually have to pay their employees and give benefits instead of relying on government programs to do it for them.
...
But AT&T actually pays.
...
yep, I was agreeing with you.
...
Agent stores don't have it so easy. If I weren't approaching an MIT program for the sole benefit of usage on my resume, I wouldn't work for an agent, or really refer anyone else to.
...
That depends on the company you work for.
...
I work for an agent and I like it we get paid great the enviroment is relaxed and we beat COR stores in DSL sales and that really irks all the COR people hahaha
...
They could also pick LTE if they want to. I think they will be fine for now with HSPA.
...
Think they will go to HSOPA or just skip it and go right to LTE?
...
HSOPA actually is an addition/upgrade to LTE. I think they will take their time, but eventually I think they will go up to that upgrade.
...
Just an FYI; CDMA will not go away for some time. Their LTE will not be up for a long time either.
...
Well yeah, you can't just change your network and your 60 million handsets in one night.
...
Of course. Just saying that it will take a lot of time to actually begin to move the necessary spectrum into the 4G area, look at their base stations and infrastructure and make necessary changes, and obviously make commitments with devices and chipmakers for their next gen. In addition, after they actually launch it they need it to become nationwide, if that is what they are doing, and present a dual mode phone if they are also going that way. It could take 5+ years to move over 60 million customers. I also hope Verizon will not put any caps and block their devices on their new data venture or else it would be the same thing now; a failure.
...
how GSM is on the way out to! CDMA and GSM will be gone in around the same time. GSM may be quicker!
