1.)
I live in Lynchburg, VA (24501) and want to get Cingular. Unfortunately I have no stores around me and on the website it says that there is no coverage in my area. But on the DC/Baltimore map it clearly shows Lynchburg in Cingular coverage with a large amount of service around me. Is there any way that I can get a local number somehow?

2.)
A few weeks ago on the internet the Sony Ericsson T637 was going for $19.99 with a 2 year contract. It was an internet special and I went to get it the next day and it was back up to $109.99. Anyone know when this special is going to run again if it is to run again?

3.)
Are there going to be any phones like the T637 (bar style w/ camera and bluetooth) for around the same price ($109.99) that ...

i work for cingular tech support so i can only answer one of your questions.
1. unfortuantely where you live is not directly covered by any cingular owned infrastructure. i only work for central region US so i dont know who the network partner would be. possibly tmobile or another smaller carrier. to answer your question no we cannot provide local numbers for areas that do not fall within our immediate home network footprint. and even if it is inside the footprint sometimes it is still difficult to get local npa/nxx for your area. sorry.

You're in the map b/c of roaming agreements with the local carrier in your area. They're not able to provide you with a local number b/c they don't sell service in your area. One of the best phones out that fits the description of what you're looking for is the Nokia 6230. Awesome display, camera, video, BT, bar style. It might be a little out of your price range, but from what I hear it's worth it. $149.99 after mail in rebate.

you're not currently covered by Cingular's native network....but don't give up hope, you soon will be. Do you have Suncom stores in your area? (it's been a long time since I've been to lynchburg so I can't remember). If so, you will eventually see them turning into Cingular stores. Conditions of the merger required us to divest in NC so we traded ATT assets in NC for Suncom assets in VA. Give it a while, you'll see us

No, unfortunately I don't have any idea when the change will happen. Chances are, you can contact Triton PCS and find out when the transition will take place. I have heard a rumor from an associate of mine in Durham that Triton will transition the ATT customers from NC to Suncom in about a year. But I don't know how true it is. Cingular corporate may also have information as the Suncom stores will be transitioned to corporate owned if they remain open. Reputable agents in your area might also be a good source of info as they will probably be forced to stop selling Suncom and may have an accurate date.

As for applications....cingular only takes them thru their website. The employees in the corporate Suncom stores will probably be ret...

1)Looking at my map tool here. I don't see coverage in your area....The map you were looking at, was it a nation map or a local map? and was it from cingular, or a third party? A local number would require a relocation, but there' no coverage there.

2)Talk to sales.

3)The nokia 6230 has all that....the price in the closest market is 219.99 w/ 2 year, 269.99 w/ 1 year, 319.99 w/ no contract...a $50 rebate may come with this, And keep in mind the prices DO vary by market, but this is the market you'd have to get the phone from.

You do not have coverage in your area that we can see. If the phone doesn't work for you, I'mm sorry.
