Caller ID

Sparks

I am a new Cingular customer, with 3 phones on a Family Plan. Is it possible to set the Caller ID on each phone to reflect the person (in the family) that it is assigned to? Any insight will be appreciated! Thanks. Cliff

Won't happen. I tried to get them to do that with my Family Plan phones. They say they cannot do it because your family members do not exist in their computers; only you.

C.E. - Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that - it would be a very 'family friendly' feature...

Sparks,

This is worth a shot. I had a customer who came in and wanted the CID in the husbands name. Both lines were in her name. Typically we Cingular reps have to do a transfer of service to make this happen(where the CID is in another person name). So I submitted a transfer of service to our main call center. (This requires a credit check). I always have whoever answers my faxes to call me to make sure they go through. The rep said that all he had to do is call tech support, and they could change it manually in Cingular's system.

Go see you local rep to see if this can be done. It is worth a shot. If that doesn't work the only other alternative is having the other 3 lines besides your say "wireless caller" on the CID. Good luck.

They can remove the name from the other phones, though, and just show the number.

I called to have that done about 4 mos. ago, and my name is still showing up--same issue, kids don't want to see parents name. 🤣

Should I try calling CS again, or is this something a local store can do for me (without charge)?

Try calling CS again. It should just come up with the wireless number when they call someone. If they are calling a wireless phone that phone should search its own phonebook to try and put a name to the number so your kids name would come up.

Yeah, the phonebook thing works for me.

I just don't want some people having my name with my number for those "rare" times when I mis-dial. 🤣 And I don't give my cell number out to everyone I call. 😉

I'll try again and see if I can just get it listed as "Unavailable" for the name. Thanks.
