Hey can someone answer this for me, I went to a cingular store today, and everyone was really friendly and everything, but nobody really knew for sure, and I got like 3 different maybe possible answers...my mom has a grandfathered multi network plan and an old 6340i. Her husband just activated new service like 2 months ago with ya'll on a regular gsm plan, and her phone clobbers his when it comes to coverage. She says his works 98% of the time and he's really happy with it, but there has never been one single time she has ever had a dropped call she says or no signal, and believe me they travel extensively around the U.S. on their bikes and coverage, and type of coverage is a huge factor in why they have cingular. However, she is out of cont...

With the recent changes with the joined network and a new phone with the new 64k sim there is no need for the Multiband phones, thats why as of DAY 1, nov 15,2004 the "New Cingular" had expired those Multiband plans since they are not needed anymore.

They won't kick her off of it, but they would make it very hard for her if needed a new phone or plan for more minutes, best bet is leave it willingly, take advantage of the new combined network and get a better plan with better minutes.

I would actually wait until there is actually a combined network. It's still two seperate networks. That has been much debate about the 64K SIM and ENS. About half and half on people think whether the 64K SIM and ENS have helped in coverage. Some say yes and other no while others flat out say it is worse. I would recommend that they hold onto what they got until the network is actually merged for opitmal coverage. Right now is isn't the best time to change if she is happy with what she's got.

any of the cureent plans (post nov. 15th) are compatible with GAIT phones. If she is happy with her phone she can continue to use it. If she wants do do a family talk or whatever, she can.

Well All i can you is this we get e-mails from them(cingular) every day with new info, which i read prior to start of shift. And they stated the Gait plans were expired as of Nov 15,2004 and the customer wants to activate them would only have access to the GSM portion only, the only people benefitting from GAIT would be customers on GAIT plans prior to that being expired.

Thank you guys so much for the info! I'm assuming TDMA will eventually be expired, and no longer even available to use with GAIT? Can anyone speculate as to how long that's going to take?
