Question on upgrading to cingular?????

I was wondering if anybody knows if you have the At&t contract that doesn't expire until next year DEC and you want to switch over to cingular. To get a new phone or to be on one of their calling plans would you have to pay the full purchase price of the phone? or would you get treated like a new customer with a discount price? Also would you even be charged an early termination fee if I wanted to sign up with an cingular family plan??

the way that its works is this to get any discounts on the phone You must renew for a minimum of 1 year on a new current cingular plan and there is no ETF on the "legacy" package through your old AWS provider.

You get a better discount of course with a 2 year renewal.there is a 18.00 upgrade fee you MUST pay when getting switched over to the new cingular plan and activation of your new phone. There is no credit for it and also no way to avoid it.

Cingular does not web match like AWS used to ,they provide you a discount with 1 or 2 year, thats it.

And if you have a GSM service on the "legacy" AWS, there is no buyers remorse, the 30 days means that you then have your contract reverted to what the end date was on your expired ATT Wir...

Actually, if you check around the forums, people have been able to go back to their AWE plans after migrating because the signal from Cingular's towers were really bad while AWE was really good and they said the 64K SIM and ENS didn't do squat for them.

Well I guess for the area you work for you are correct. However, I know specifically of two different people that were able to migrate to a Cingular plan, didn't like it because of the coverage issue I stated before and went back to their AWE plan and network.

They were probably TDMA customers. Like he specified if you are GSM then you cannot go back and don't get a 30 days buyers remorse with your contract. But you can still exchange your phone within that 30 days or pay full price and stick with your origonal contract.

IN ALL AREAS, PERIOD, Once a customer upgrades to New Cingular plan and phone, they CANNOT reverse migrate back to their old plan. They are not under the old contract, and they can, under buyer's remorse, cancel the new contract, and get new service with someone else. But read this again and make sure you DO NOT give out incorrect information. Once someone has migrated from ATTWS plan, they can never get it back.

Anyone caught reverse migrating a customer will face disciplinary...

WRONG. customer CAN reveris migrationg from Orange to blue within their 30 days if they feel the coverage area is not as good. Check out Primus ATTW36869. Click under Siebel (GSM) or AXYS (TDMA) Customers and click how to migrate. At the bottom it gives how to reverse migrate.

It's got a link for both GSM and TDMA. Granted i can't see why you would want to if your GSM unless you were missinformed about your rateplan because you can't claim worse service.

Technically it's possible but I think it's only done in certain special situations. From what I recall from training once a customer migrates it's done and there's no chance to go back. That's why when migrating from blue to orange as customer your should be told and as a rep you should be telling.

You're all wrong.

I had GSM on blue, migrated to orange on GSM, and three weeks later migrated back. As long as you're in the 30 day period, you can do it (and you have to send the new phone back). Period.

It's funny, because every blue CSR I've talked to says that you can't migrate back, but the orange CSR know full well that you can.

What's even funnier is I actually migrated back TWICE. After I migrated back to blue the first time, a store manager convinced me to give it another shot, so I did. But I was still unhappy and migrated back to blue AGAIN 1 week later.

If you want a new phone and have had your ATT phone for at least 1 year, you can get pretty good discounts. Only problem is, the stores and telesales are selling all ...

To switch to cingular you HAVE TO take a new contract ,either new 1 year or 2 year.Discount for phone depends on that length of contract. You ARE Already a cingular customer-just ona "legacy" package, so you get get discount not new customer pricing, that goesfor existing cingular customers, so you are treated equally!!!

Only way you pay an ETF if you leave your carrier, since when they bought your company, they bought your plan and contract, they will honour your plan, you HAVE to honour your contract, its your choice to renegotiate it by switching to a current plan!!!

Hm. According to the info we got (Orange CS), migrating folks are treated as new customers with regards to deals on phones, not as upgrading folks...

Based on my experience (I had ATT and migrated to Cingular and migrated back to ATT this week), I would just buy a new ATT phone and DO NOT MIGRATE. It is such a hassle, and it's not worth it.

If you have had your ATT phone for at least a year, you can get a new ATT phone for a discounted price. However, ATT phones are selling fast and they are not getting any new ones. I called around to a few different stores and found a Moto V505 for $50 (which is funny considering that the Cingular equivalent, the V551, is $100 for even new customers).

Also, check to see if your employer gets a discount. I told them that I work for a city government, so they said bring in a paystub and I can save even more money.

If you can find the ATT phone ...
