I went into my local att store, (now a cingular store) to buy the e316...The lady helping me, said there aren't any more e316's after the merger and i should switch to cingular and get the e317...i said ok.....i was going to do it, but she said she heard bad things about the e316 for att, and therefore wouldnt recommend the e317 for cingular, even tho she wasn't sure the cingular version would be as bad...i really want the e317 tho, as i have been researching it for a while...Do u feel either are bad phones?? She said that there is bad reception on the e316.. She was really trying to convice me not to get it, and wanted me to go for the moto v551, which i don't really like....is the e317 ok??...or do u agree with her??? I will have a 30-tria...

I am with her. If i were you i would go with the Moto v551. Better features like speaker phone and blue tooth and longer video clips and much better reviews on the v551. Not sure why you don't like the v551 everyone i heard loves that phone.

I upgraded my wife's phone to the e316 back in September and we are both very pleased with it. Lightweight, great sound, reception and screen. The only draw back is the serial type connection for the charger and ear pierce, but other than that I give the phone very high marks.

If I were able to move her over to Cingular w/o an ETF (we're in a divested market), she would be getting the e317. The only difference that I can see between it and the e316 is that the e317 does not have video recording ability. I could be wrong on that, but as of yet have not seen that featured listed.
