I am currenty a Verizon customer. But I want to switch to Cingular. I will be moving to Long Island, New York. The area codes there are (516) and (631) and the zipcode is 11706.
For some reason I am having a hard time finding enough people in that area that actually use Cingular.
I think in the past I had 2 people respond to question in the past.
I would find hard to believe that no one in Long Island has ever heard of phonescoop! I need to have blanket coverage in that area, not hit or miss. I know for a fact Verizon works great there, but I hate their phone selection.
If I have to I'll get febuary's issue of consumer's report, they haven't steered me wrong yet.
I'm not interested in what Cingular says, "Yea we have towers t...

Debit is right - Cingular since the merger is amazing. make sure you get a new phone that is ENS capable, and a 64k sim card and you will amazed by your coverage.

Just remember there is a 30 buyers' guarantee with a new activations simply pay for what you use during that period of time and if not satisfied with service or phone, you may terminate or return phone without a binding agreement.

The 30 buyers' guarantee is only available when signing service directly with Cingular. If service is purchase with a dealer the period is only 10 to 15 days.

Yes if I am not mistaken it is. It is also one of the best signal phones that I have found so far here in the SE 😁

I had posted a thread I believe was on Sunday. I was hoping to hear frm some people who live in/on Long Island, N.Y.(area codes 631 and 516) and (zip code 11706)
I wanted to leave Verizon for Cingular, but due to the lack of responses to my original thread. I stay with Verizon and I'll see what Febuary's issue of Consumer Reports has to say about cell service.
For the few people who did make the effort to supply some info on the matter mentioned in the first thread, I thank you.

I live on Long Island about 8-10 miles from where you are moving to. I do not know about any ENS capable phones, as I do not have one. The service around North Babylon is good, the area around the Bayshore Mall is good, nothing inside the mall though (the only phone I know that works in the mall is verizon).

There are a few absolutely dead spots on the island for cingular, particularly on the north shore of the island, then again verizon is the only phone that works in those areas also. Sayville is another area where the cingular signal is weak that I travel to often. Then again the further east you go, general cell service typically goes down (all carriers) as it is less densely populated. Overall you will get a good signal, but there...

Thank you for your input. I think if I were to switch to Cingular I would like a camera phone w/quadbands.
Just in caseI forget, Happy Holidays!
