New phones and upgraded plan.

I posted this in the general forum but thought I try and see if I get any replies in the AT&T forum.

I'm with AT&T right now. I want to upgrade a couple of phones and add unlimited text and unlimited data for one phone.

I've talked with both AT&T and Sprint. Bottom line is that upfront costs are about the same but Sprint is $30 cheaper per month for comparable service. It is a no brainer. I should switch to Sprint.

I went back to AT&T store to see how badly they wanted to keep my business. They would not even discuss coming off thier price. I'm mostly happy with AT&T but guess I'll be switching.

Anyone have any comments. Am I talking to the wrong folks at AT&T about meeting Sprints deal?

Thanks.

We can't just make up our own prices to suit a customer. We click what's in the computer, and that's what you can get.

You could talk to our "save team", as they have a few different features they could offer but even they can't create their own plans and features.

Since Data RPU seems to be what carriers measure success by these days, I highly doubt they'll give you unlimited text and data for $10 a month.

We'll it doesn't matter to me if you call it an old plan, new plan, altered plan, "create your own" plan, I'm just looking for tips on how to save money. If AT&T has a "customer retention" department that has some flexibility with prices for retaining customers then that would be great. If they don't, then that is fine as well. I'm not trying to flame anyone...I'm just asking for tips and this looked like a place that had many knowledgeable folks that could help.

Still, right now, the bottom line is it looks like I can get the plan I want, with the phones I want for $30 cheaper per month with Sprint. But, Id rather stay with AT&T. You've heard the old saying, "I'd rather stay with the devil I know verses the devil I don't".

Thanks...

I would recommend looking further into the price difference. Sprint is going to report another HUGE loss of customers while everyone else is gaining. Grass is sure looking browner instead of greener.

Sprint does not offer unlimited messaging for the same price as they offer unlimited text. They charge extra for pics and video. It may be small (you need to evaluate it for yourself) but it can add up.

Sprint also has a very SLOW network where they do not have EVDO (70k in West Texas) and coverage is limited outside of metro areas.

Add in Unity plans and you may find the deal isnt really that much better. Retention is not into matching Sprint and others for the simple fact that they do not match AT&T in so many other areas. Yes, ...

Thanks. Help me understand the difference. Sprint offers something called a Sprint Vision Pack for $15/month/phone which includes "unlimited data access". I'm thinking this means unlimited internet. With AT&T they offer unlimited internet for $20/month/phone...unless the phone is a Treo (which is the one I want), then it is $40/month/phone. Also Sprint offers unlimited text messages for $20/month. That includes all phones on the family plan. AT&T offers unlimited text messages for $20/month/phone. What is the difference other than cost? Is it just the pics and video? Is the AT&T network really worth an extra $30/month. That is $720 over a two year contract! Folks must really be POed at Sprint if they are leaving topay that much m...

Do you know people in your area that have sprint? If they have good reception in your area it sounds like a good deal just hope you never have to call customer service considering they have the worst customer service out of all corporations in america(no joke).

I have a good friend that has been with Sprint for years. He is very happy with their coverage and says he thinks the data network is better/faster than other carriers. I've read, on forums, some of the issues with Sprint Customer Service and that makes me nervous.

Well hopefully since their CEO just resigned, the new one will make it better!
