Would a newer phone help significantly to warrant costs?
I've been a cingular customer for over a year. Had some recent problems with a new LG L1200 I bought and got it replaced (was doing some really funky things). The replacement works fine (no strange things happening), but the signal strength still isn't as good as the old Motorola T720 it replaced (thought this might have been because the old phone had issues). I would switch back to the old phone, but I ditched it a bit too quickly (donated it).
I don't have an upgrade available for a while, so that is out of the question. I would have to spend $150+ for a new phone. Just curious if any phone out there would provide enough of a difference to warrant the cost? I'm not a big feature person. They are nice to have, but not a necessity, I'm more concerned with signal strength and call quality (no echoes, clear voices, etc) than a super camera. I travel for work, so a phone that works well in many areas is a very good thing.
Any ideas/advice welcome. Thanks.

Amazon.com is selling phones with $200-250 rebates right now (no new service required). I would check that out.

Where do you see the rebates on Amazon that don't require new service? They all look like they need new service to me (or at least a new line on an existing plan).
