VOICEMAIL PROBLEM
I just got a unlocked MOtorola v620 and works great except for voicemail. When I get voicemail, it comes out as a text message asking me to "read" it. I don't get the voicemail icon. I asked Cingular tech support without luck; they tell me to call MOtorola for software update. But MOtorola tells me it's a Cingular problem.
Has anyone encountered this problem and if it was fixed? thanks in advance.

Since Cingular doesn't sell the phone there's no way they'd troubleshoot it. If it's anything like the v600 then I'd say it's a phone thing. I used it for a long time with no problems like that ever occuring.

No the problem is that you bought a phone thats tech is not 100% compatable with your service, but thats the risk people do to buy a phone thats either cheaper or not sold by your carrier, nothing you can DO EXCEPT buy a cingular phone that they support ,yours isn't

Here is what phoescoop says about your v620
This update to the popular V600 sports a new black design and adds video capture and menu themes. Other key features include quad-band GSM, Bluetooth, VGA camera, changeable metal casing, and speakerphone.
This phone is not currently available from any major US carrier. It is compatible with "some U.S. networks", and may be available from third-party dealers or smaller, regional carriers.

If you're in NC or SC, they changed the message waiting indicator to a text message type, which would be what you're seeing......Which is, I think, really stupid.
If you're not in those states, your state may be doing the same thing.

I also have an unlocked Motorola V620 phone with Cingular (East coast of central Florida market). My voicemail works fine except after exiting voicemail I get a text message icon and text message ringtone. After numerous attempts through Cingular to get problem resolved they keep saying everything is fine. Cingular placed a restriction on my voicemail where I would still be able to receive voicemails but the voicemail indicator on my phone would not work. That stopped the meassage indicator and alert from showing up, but unless I went to voicemail I didn't know if I had any voicemails or not. Cingular said incoming messages incur a fee. May have to live with it the way it is now set up.
