Hi, I have an At&t phone and it is not functioning right (Lg L1150) and I was going to call customer service and see what my options are for the same model or any other options. My question is; Since the merger is complete, do i have to get a cingular phone? or will they send me an at&t phone?

If you call CS, if the phone is still under warranty, they should just warranty it out...

oh thank you, but through the warrenty it is a refurbished phone. I do not wish to have a refurbished phone. The phones problem is just a battery issue but a replacement battery is 60$ and i have insurance. I want to go through insurance because it is cheaper then buying a replacement battery.

Just go to a store (former ATTWS store) and have it exchanged for free. It, too, is under the year warranty.

However, they may be completely out, so ask them if they have any of the same LGs returned for Buyers Remorse (not defective), and have them swap your battery for the one in the box.

If dude goes through insurance, I'm pretty sure they are gonna send him a refurb phone as well. He might be able to do a accessory exchange if he has his proof of puchase, or there might be some aws stock at a retail store...that may involve some calling and driving on his part though...

Yeah an Insurance claim for that phone would probably be a refurb. Proof of Purchase can be found in our register/inventory system, so as a courtesy, he should have no problem.

Remaining stock of ATTWS branded stuff is gonna be a problem though.

Let me know how it goes GinoA

It sounds like we've got a couple of things going on.

1. We can't promise that an ATTWS store will exchange anything unless the equipment was purchased at the store w/in the last 30 days.

2. Insurance covers physical damage, liquid damage, lost or stolen. If none of these conditions exist, going through insurance would be considered insurance fraud... a criminal offense.

3. Accessory Warranty department requires a proof of purchase and they don't have access to our systems. The customer will have to provide proof of purchase for exchange of the battery through that department... or through the manufacturer.

4. ATTWS inventory systems do NOT have proof of purchase for every attws device out there. Some phones come directly ...

thanks for all the help. unfortunately the guy at the att store was an a**. he lectured me about saying that keeping the phone in a purse (its my wifes phone) is the reason the battery doesnt last 1 day but I myself keep my phone in my pocket and the battery lasts about 3 days with normal talktime, gameplay, text messaging, and browsing the internet. Then i asked him what my options were and he said I can go through warrenty exchange for a refurb phone, but seeing as this phone is brand new and i paid 220$ I would not agree to a refurb phone. He just went on saying that I didnt know how to take care of a phone and that all phones should be on hollisters. But its ok i called att and im just going to migrate over to cingular. thanks for the h...

All of these stipulations over a battery though? Very good points, but for a battery, its going a little too far. I could see if it was in fact from an external channel, then we couldnt find the receipt in Titan, but to save time and avoid frustration, we just go in the back and swap it out with a battery from the same exact model....customers happy and we could help the next in line...

If you are still on an ATTWS calling plan and you go through warranty exchange, you would receive an ATTWS phone. If you are wanting a Cingular phone, you would want to migrate to Cingular and purchase that device. That being said, I understand that there are great discounts on phones for customers who want to migrate to Cingular.

There are other markets that cannot Migrate. there's accually a fairly large list of very small markets that got divested and can't be migrated.
