I bought a gophone over a year ago and i also have a regular plan with cingular but my monthly plan phone is broken. My question is can i just swap the sim cards and use the sim card from regular phone in my gophone? If i do so would i be cahrger per minute like the gophone or would it just use my minutes from my regular plan? Thanks.

yes you can. if you would have bought a pre paid phone and never activated, it might cause problems, but using a prepaid phone that you have used before, there is nothing wrong with it.

As long as it is an unlocked gsm phone, or a phone locked to the network you want to use, it is FINE. You can use never before activated prepaid phones just fine. Your SIM is what determines your number and plan, the phone is just the medium it uses to connect to the towers. It's like swapping your brain into someone elses body.

actually, the reason i said an activated prepaid phone is because of the posa feature that gets put on post paid accounts using a prepaid phone that was purchased at walmart or sams and not activated. also, if you purchase a prepaid phone from online and do not activate it as prepaid and use it for post paid they will either charge your ordering credit card the pos...

but they price those phones based on gophone usage, which cost are structered different than post paid... just the way it is. and, if everyone did that, the company would in fact start loosing money.

Actually that's prepaid fraud. When it's caught they'll suspend the line of service.

all they have to do is buy the phone and activate it and get $10 for free or whatever. Then just swap SIMs.

you even get a back up SIM card.

That phone will not have a warranty, but thats why you did it in the first place.

It does not say anywhere in the users manual or on the contract that you cant activate a prepaid phone (it comes with minutes) and then proceed to swap out your SIM to your hearts content.

am i right?

yes, if it's activated on prepaid first, then you have met the obligation.

They'll still can it. I see it all the time.

I've honestly never even seen the policy that states it's not to be done, but our reps keep saying we can't.

Nope, I'm an agent. They never even told us until we saw people with suspended accounts. Then we asked, and they said why.

I didn't find anything by searching for POSA except a notice that a few prepaid Samsungs where shipped without the leading 0 in their IMEI.

I did see that we're changing our Account Access Policy to require physical ID and your name as an authorized user to make any changes after December 8th. I can already hear the whining.

Actually, I bought a cheap Motorola GoPhone @ Wal Mart for ONLY $20, and never activated the prepaid minutes, or anything, I just put my already existing sim card in, and that was that.

I'm not a cheapo by the way, I'm just waiting for ATT to put something out that actually imprresses me, I like most people on here am a "gadget geek", I'm really interested in the SE K850!!! Awesome handset!!!
