There might be a way for you to do it online, but with all of the problems that Cingular's website tends to have, its better to do everything in the store. And I'm talking from experience. I ordered service with Cingular back on Nov. 11th, and everything went good. But if I wanted to return my phone for whatever reason during the 30 days, I have to send it back through the web. Which now I understand why, but its just a pain. Hopes this helps with your decision.

So far so good the service is great and the reps I talked to both on here and on the phone are helpful and gracious as long as you show respect.

When I signed onto the ATT site under my account, and clicked on the link for "Upgrade my Phone", it would take you through the migration process. And you can also do it on the phone.

I tried it online within the first couple days of the merger going through, but the website was done, so I called and they gave me the same phone for the same price as online.

But I was mad with the Cingular service and migrated back to ATT. I would look to see how other people in your area are doing after the switch. Might take a little research, but ask around, because it's good to know.

BTW, if you've had you're ATT service for at least a year, you can still buy a new phone for a good discounted price without switching to Cingular. That's what I end...

December 31,2004 ,there will no more phones or plans sold on the ATT Service, we were sent an e-mail tonight,as of dec 31,2004, all phones not sold by that date, go back to the NDC, National Distribution Centre for return to swapout for Cingular Branded Handsets.

Anybody who is dumb enough to start a new plan between now and then is NUTS!!The reason i say that is to get anything from The former AWS was with 2 year contract even with add on line of service, and then are locked in for 2 years, they break their phone or past warranty period, then they either stay with what they got for that 2 years are up, but Cingular would no Motivation to offer them a better phone deal down the road, since they have to honur your service contract, but noth...

debit is clearly either on drugs or is more than comfortable spreading disinformation. Nothing I have seen of Cingular rate plans or customer service indicates a clear superiority to aws offerings, and their discounting structure while clear cut, is nowhere near as responsive or adaptable to customer needs as at&t's. So why didn't at&t buy Cingular? Mismanagement. AWS brass treated their IT staff poorly, de-motivated them and set them an impossible task to update the gsm systems before the lnp legislation went live.Didn't work and customer service was forced telling people that they had no idea what was happening and no way of finding out. For weeks at a time. I was working TDMA customer care at that time, and this merger is feeling like mo...

Greyrat, you don't have a clue about why ATT didn't buy Cingular, ATT bred their customers into asking for a credit anytime they want one, misinformation, loyalty, goodwill, customer retention, courtesy re-rates, you name it they would credit, i once had a customer that thought they got 2000 minutes for 29.99, we were told bsed on misinformation,CREDIT them, and the customers knew how to run the scam, thie difference is that Cingular does credit for misinformation, but just got blow their checkbook out to do it.

A known fact within AWS, in 2002, that sae policy cost AWS to lose $100 million dollars in 2002, thats ok,cuz the customers were happy right?-Thosesame customers were the who milked the system saying AWS could aford it, well guess...

debit if you aren't on drugs, one of cingular's useful idiots or involved in a romantic relationship with a cingular executive, then you must be one of those massively lazy reps that spent their days avoiding making any changes to customer accounts. Cingular policies may benefit Cingular in the short run, and they make customer care's jobs easier, but they don't benefit the consumer. And without benefit to the consumer, where are we as a company and as an industry?

Good you take that attitude, cuz i got news for you, you say"I don't gotta go nowhere" till my contracts up?, Good just you better not bitch about your service coverage, since you are on an expired plan and outdated phone, better baby that phone cuz they don't make AWS phones no more so ,in the next 2 years that phone better last, cuz you'll have that pretty plan but no phone to use it with.

You better realize you don't have the Advantage here, Cingular does. When they bought the company they HAD to honour the plan you were on at the time of the Buyout, so that means you got what you got, you need to change anything, your plan minutes, phone, CSA, changing your number to move from one area to another like(New York to Atlanta), changing the ...

Right now you cannot switch from ATT to cingular online. They are currently working on that feature but it is down for the moment. You must go into a store or call Care or telesales.
