Question about mhz and all that good stuff.....
I have seen two sony ericsson phones on their websites that I truly love... the W660i and the W960i.... and it says that they are 900/1900 mhz.... my question is why the heck make a phone that we cant really use here? They told me that it would work with AT&T but the signal might not be that good or whateva...i really like those phones but whats the point if they dont work???

it will on their 1900 band but I think they use allot of 800. But it could be for people that don't travel and are in a pcs area? Or people that travel a little and can roam off tmobile as they only deploy PCS.

I live in North Carolina. Dont travel much outside of NC. So I wonder how well the phones would work here.

Its because the U.S.A isn't number one like most americans think. The worldwide market is a much bigger profit generator than the USA and they only need 1900/1800/900 to work in those markets. The phones you are talking about aren't carried by any USA carrier so they don't have to put in the 850mhz frequency. There are plenty of quality quadband phones that you have to choose from so don't feel too bad, atleast you have the option to use some of those phones unlike a CDMA carrier.

I am beginning to see that. Europe always seems to get nice phones as well as Asia. I love GSM 🙂 was with Sprint for 5.5 years. Didnt know what I was missing 🙂
