Smart phone vs iPhone vs BlackBerry

I have to admit, I get really confused at the differences between these phones and their plans. Up to this point I've only ever carried "regular" phones. I rarely text and I don't access the web with my phone. I'm thinking that I'm probably missing out on doing some pretty cool stuff, but I don't really want a huge monthly bill. If I'm interested in texting more and having a few more goodies, can someone here PLEASE explain to me how the different plans work? Example: Let's say I decide that I would like to have a BB Curve or a Pantech Duo because I like the organizer and I want a QWERTY keyboard for texting. Do I also have to get a different plan besides my regular calling plan? My head hurts. 😕

You don't have to get an extra plan unless you want data access for web browsing. For unlimited data and 1500 txt it is 39.99/month for a PDA phone(we don't sell any "smartphones" right now) and for the blackberry it is 29.99 for data with no text. You can still use all the PDA functions without using these subscription services.

Thanks for the reply. So If I get a BB, it's $29.99 for data on top of my regular plan rate? And that doesn't include text? Wow. So what does that $29.99 pay for?
If I only want to use it for the PDA functions and to do regular texting, how would that work? Someone told me that to get the discounted rate on a BB you HAVE to get the data plan too. Is that right? ...

IF your account is eligible for an upgrade, you would need to get the blackberry plan to receive the rebate(this is non contractual so you can use it and then cancel it after receiving the rebate) The blackberry plan includes unlimited internet access as well as blackberry email which includes up to ten email accounts being pushed to your device. If you just want text and to use it as a PDA regular text packages will still work...like 4.99 for 200 messages a month.

Awesome..thanks! I'm not that worried about mobil email or web access. I would like the PDA functions and it would be nice to have a full QWERTY keyboard for texting (I don't do it enough to get the hang of doing it on a regular phone). Hmmm...looks like my next phone might just be a curve!
