My friends phone fell apart (long story ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), so he went out and bought a cheap gophone, popped in his SIM card and now uses it as his backup. My question is, is this possible? Texting, and all that good stuff? Sorry if this is a dumb question, just didn't know if you could do this. ๐Ÿคจ

I've heard that AT&T is putting a stop to this, but I have yet to see it happen. Everything is preset to AT&Ts settings so his text and such is fine. The only thing he might encounter is if the IMEI is tagged as a GoPhone, but I don't foresee a crackdown on that anytime soon.

be sure to tell your friend to activate the prepaid card that came with it. you can use the 10.00 that comes with it for games or ringtones, but that prepaid phone needs to be activated as prepaid...

So basically anyone who needs a cheap phone, (for example they are not due for an upgrade for another year), can go and get a go-phone and use it on their regular service plan? That just amazes me considering go-phones can be so dirt cheap.
