Hey guys, just wondering what working for AT&T is like. Do you guys get free phones? I know the service is free after 90 days. If so how do you choose or is one given to you? Is working for them fun? Is it a good job for a college student? Thanks for the response!

Its a great college job, I did that all through my college career. Although...as much as I am a big AT&T fan and could never imagine making a phone call on a V phone, Verizon pays quite a bit more. Although again...I think depending on what you plan on doing with your life working for AT&T can give you alot of career options. Thats how the job worked out for me, I just took a job within the AT&T umbrella outside AT&T mobility making a great income with great hours, and I love it! Take the job, get AT&T to reimburse your school expenses, and make a caereer with them. The best way you will move on to a good job inside the company is being at the top in sales and tell everyone where you want to go and do with AT&T. And yes...they have great ben...

Yes - in sales, you get free service from day one. a data device and voice device (2 lines) you also get additional free lines for friends or family although you need to purchase that equipment.

As far as compensation - It depends on market. Some pay a great deal more then others. Even though, technically, there is a salary range. Retail sales and call center jobs are bargained (union). benefits are great. Even for todays environment. Pension, 401k match, health care and vacation are all exceptional.

In my market they reduced it down to one cou line (data), and 2 erp's. Also not all of AT&T mobility is union. I worked in the carolina market which is not union. I do know from other reps that came from union areas that the pay was a great deal more. The benefits are awesome, however I know that they were changing everything over this year to a plan that I think sucked (very high deductibles) but if you are looking for a college job it probably isn't a big deal for you.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does "cou" and "erp" mean? And do you get to choose your phone or is it from a selection of certain phones? I would really like the Shine. The other benefits look amazing. The store is in Kentucky. You guys know anything about that area?

cou-company official line, erp-employee rate plan. it depends on your managers decision and whover approves the cou requests for your market. i had been with the company long enough that i pretty much got something cool whenever i wanted it, but i know in most stores it isnt that easy. i'm not sure what Kentucky is, but i know there is a big amount of the company that is not unioned.

just an FYI South Carolina is not union but North Carolina is now Union! Poor NC employees are getting screwed. I just got off the phone with a friend (at&t) employee in NC and they get screwed. Here in SC (me an at&t employee) we are not union now and hopefully everyone votes NO when the vote comes shortly!

I definitely disagree with you on that. I'm not a fan on unions in all industry, but for SC AT&T mobility it is the best thing that could happen for them. The pay is much better from what I hear from reps that are in other markets. The union is the reason why the benefits are so good in those markets. The pay here is nothing compared to what verizon reps are making, and they need to change.

So what would my actual chances be of getting a Blackjack II or Tilt?

It all depends on what the policy is for cou phones in your store or market. In my store you would for sure get a blackjack II if you wanted it, probably not a tilt (the older reps claimed that one) but who knows what it's like where you are.
