question for the at&t reps
i just had a customer come into my store (sprint) and ask about our blackberrys. now she only wanted the data service which i told her that we could do and that voice (if used) is $.20 per minute without a voice package. she then told me to go ahead and active her because the at&t rep told her that he could not add only the data plan and that he would have to add the voice as well equaling around $80 per month total. my question is, is this the way you guys have to do this? or did the rep not know that he could? also do you guys get paid for the price plan as well as any other attachables? if so, i was thinking that was his motovation in adding the extra voice package.

That rep was an idiot. You can do standalone data, you get a $5 a month discount if you have voice too. The only thing the customer may not get is their rebate which I believe requires voice and data.

Some of the plan options are not available as stand alone. Curious if she wanted BB personal or something like that.
