Text Messaging
I thought you used both companies

God yes. Nextel's text is HORRIBLE. I have both at&t and Nextel, and there is no comparison. Nextel's hardly ever get texts and when they do it takes a year to download them. It like texting in 1975 w/ a Nextel.
actually it would be 1985...
per wikipedia:
SMS was originally defined as part of the GSM series of standards in 1985 as a means of sending messages of up to 160 characters, to and from GSM mobile handsets.
So that would be texting in 1995?
🤣

Wasn't Nextel formed in the late 90's?

Actually:
From Wikipedia:
NEXTEL was founded as FleetCall in 1987 by Morgan E. O' Brien, a Washington, DC, communications attorney, and changed its name to Nextel Communications in 1993.
Its called sarcasm. Obviously text messaging wasn't around in 1975. My point is that Nextel's texting is archaic.

Would text messaging with at&t be faster than over Nextel's network.
Powersource phones use SMS messaging, and are very fast.

Yes, but sprint's voice only being 1900mhz limits it's voice. Sprint does not seem to work well in buildings or in manufacturing facilities compared to Nextel or AT&T. Their voice not being good imo will probably make them my last choice when they force us off of IDEN.
I used to think that too, but I have discovered that my Powersource phone will hold a signal on the phone side BETTER even than the DC side.

I can only speak from my personal experience. It may be just where I live but in buildings where I work the only phones that get signal are Nextel or AT&T, and the Nextel being the better of the 2 nobody with sprint or vzw can make a ...

I like CDMA, although I've never thought the voice quality rivaled time-based digital cellular. But it does have it's advantages.
If Sprint PCS doesn't work well in your area, then it wouldn't be your personal best choice. Where I live, it outshines everything else, especially now that they have acquired old Nextel sites and boosted their own signal.
Whatever you decide, B.O.L.!

Yes 90% of businesses do use sprint but I guarantee you 90% of that 90% are on the IDEN network. If IDEN goes away sprint will struggle due to what you said about DC. Nextel was only beginning to scratch the surface of what IDEN could have been. I will stay until IDEN absolutely will not work in my area. Sprint has lost huge amounts of money this year. If IDEN goes like the FCC and they are wanting so do they!!!!!!
Good luck. I hope they do keep it on a while longer. How good QChat is remains to be seen, though I'm optimistic that if any company can make it work, Nextel can.
The FCC can be a royal pain sometimes, although I do understand their reasoning behind the interference iss...
