so i saw another post that got me thinking... if consumer reports puts out a magazine with the opinions of 46000 people, let's see what google has to say about it...
(you can try this at home...)

Results 1 - 10 of about 56,600 for "sprint sucks".
Results 1 - 10 of about 17,000 for "verizon sucks".
Results 1 - 10 of about 15,400 for "at&t sucks".
Results 1 - 10 of about 6,890 for "t-mobile sucks".
Results 1 - 10 of about 2,780 for "alltel sucks".

Interesting. I tried the same thing on Ask.com. Here are the results:

AT&T sucks-473,100
Verizon-326,700
Sprint-257,800
T-Mobile-181,300

Sprint "sucks"-9650
Verizon-4740
AT&T-4140
T-Mobile-1600

Btw, I'm a big believer in CR, but this was still a very interesting post.

I would also look up Cingular as well, considering at&t is so broad, and cingular was the old carrier name not long ago.

For a truly scientific result you would also have to add Nextel to the search. For that matter you need to google all the old names and summarize by who owns who now.

for every 100,000 that say sprint sucks you can find 100,000 that say verizon sucks or att or tmobile. It is the same in any business. If it wasn't there would be no competition!!

I always look at Consumer Reports and roll my eyes... all carriers have issues here and there.
They only polled 46,000 online customers during a two week period. There are what, over 150,000,000 cell phone subscribers in the U.S., so this isn't a fair representation.
The most important thing to look at is churn rates, because if a customer is unhappy with their current carrier, they will leave when their contract is up.
