I currently have Verizon and am in the NYC area. I saw an advertisement in the Free Paper AM-NY from a cell store called Smart Cell which will pay your current contract cancellation fee if you switch to Cingular, Sprint or T-Mobile.

Smart Cell is located at 66 Court Street in Brooklyn.

Has anyone ever heard of Smart Cell or have heard from anyone else does the same thing?

Want to switch from Verizon to Cingular because Verizon is nothing but a bunch of Greedy Bastards (proof of this with their V710 having full OBEX disabled and having to use their PIX service) and their phone selection sucks. I really want a phone with Bluetooth.

With the merged network of AT&T and Cingular, I have been hearing good things from people.

they actually don't pay your ETF cancel fee.

They just give rebates, and acessories free which equal to the cost of your cancel fee, anywhere from $150.00 up to $240.00, now we're talking rebates valued between $50.00 up to $150.00, and accesories anywhere from $25.00 up to like $100.00, but they also set the value of whatthe sccesory worth is and cost since as a independant dealer, sets their own prices

So does that mean that you've dealt with this store before?

Would you switch carriers with this store if possible?

If I were you I would research this and find out exactly what they mean by paying the etf. The could actually mean that they are willing to pay your etf (sounds to good to be true) or it could be discounts. Although I dont know of may dealers that will give discounts this high. So best option is to research it before you do it anything...as the old saying goes...buyer beware.....

Just remember it's a business so they're in to make money. I've never dealt with that store but as always if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

It's VERY possible. They may be a third part agent. You don't see those too often, but they can flash the green stuff (I mean money lol) pretty freely sometimes. I had one call in last night and they paid their customers $327 phone bill for renewing their contract with them. If their commission structure is anything like indirect dealers, contract renewals don't pay nearly as much as new contracts...if thats the case, ETF's are lower than $327. Who knows...thats really interesting, though.

Isnt there a Cingular/former AT&T store close by on Montague and Cadman Plaza West, S. Brooklyn Heights? Sometimes these dealers like Smart Cells that say theyll your ETF actually make up their loss in the price of phone because you may not get the same prices than a corporate store. Nothing special in that, so good luck.
