What's up with Cellular One and AT&T??

My sister in law is a Cellone customer and her contract is up in a few weeks. If she wants to renew under Cellular One, can she? Her boyfriend keeps saying that his AT&T work phones sucked when he had them which was up to a few months ago. AT&T is working great for me, but she has a doubt as to what she wants to do. I told her she had up to 30 days to try out the AT&T service and cancel if she wanted to.
But I want to know how the Cellular One side is going to continue. Are they going to upgrade the system so that it's AT&T? Are they going to eventually terminate those systems? Keep them going? Thanks.

well, Cellular one should have already migrated customers to the GSM network. so cellular one runs off gsm, att runs off of gsm...so i don't know why you're reception would decrease unless she has a TDMA phone, which we all know provide reception in places that most carriers signals won't hold up....
if its TDMA, to answer you're question, she would have to upgrade to a GSM phone, ATT is shutting down its TDMA network Feb. 18 and cellular one will no longer provide Tdma phones.
i think thats right

I believe she has a Moto Slvr. She got it last February. According to the specs, it's a GSM phone.
Would it be possible for her to keep her current phone and use it on AT&T's network?

She already is. AT&T has taken over the Dobson network so anything she had before is already AT&T owned. She can keep her Cell One phone and plan until she wants a new phone and to sign a new contract, at that point she must go to AT&T or leave. She is allowed to sign a new contract at any time and after signing she has thirty days to decide to keep it. She cannot go back to Cell One but can port or cancel.

exactly, she's already using ATT's network for that SLVR.

If you have Cell One, you can keep what you have as long as you have a working phone (Cell One or unlocked). If you migrate to AT&T, you can use your Cell One phone, but it is not guaranteed to work and if something happens to it, AT&T will NOT replace/repair it. You'd have to go to the manufacturer. In this case, she would contact Motorola. Usually, calls will be fine, but data such as internet and messaging will not. However, you can find a fix for this online. You'd just need to update the phone's data settings to AT&T. Despite if you are getting a new AT&T phone or using your Cell One phone, you will have to agree to a two year contract. It sucks. I know. What I suggest is that you get at least the free phone as a backup in case your Cel...
