HELP please! Cingular e-mail settings?

Art Vandelay

I just went from "blue" to "orange", migrating from AT&T to Cingular... got a new Moto V551. Have national plan with MEdiaNet. I've gone online at Cingular.com and set up a MEdiaNet ID. Having EXTREME difficulty configuring e-mail/ messaging.

I can receive text messages but cannot reply to them. Cannot receive e-mail messages nor send them. When trying to send, I get message "Cannot connect. Setup incomplete." When I choose the e-mail inbox, I get message "E-mail inbox requires setup." When I then select "setup", it's asking me for info I don't have and cannot find. No "settings" info in manual nor on Cingular website. I've tried every permutation of mail(& smtp).cingular.com (& .net), ___.mobile.mycingular.com, etc etc etc. Som...

I haven't had the Cingular training yet, so I hope thid helps. If not i'll probably get 100 people telling me i'm wrong, oh well.

From what I can find your email address will be your MEdia Net username followed by "@mycingular.com". For example, if your username is "XYZ", your email address will be [email protected]

But you should still be able to send text, your message center number may not be programmed correctly.

To change that is more difficult.

Follow these instructions:
Press the Menu Key.
Scroll to and select Messages.
Press the Menu Key.
Scroll to and select Message Setup.
Compare this data:
Inbox View: Sender or Subject
Service Center No.: +19703769301
Auto clean up: None
Email Gateway: 0000000000...

You can use:
cell number or [email protected]

Use either your number or your alias.

correct me if i am wrong please but i think part of the question that hasnt been answered yet is how he can send email using the email function on his phone.

the message center number for text messaging has been answered yes.

now for email.

when sending and receiving email from your phone (again correct me if i am wrong and please provide the settings information) you cannot use the email icon. you would either have to send a txt message to an email address and receive a text message from an email address or send an email after logging onto to cingular medianet.

to send via media net you will have to go to www.mywirelesswindow.com (yes that is the old url but it still forwards to the correct website) from there you will have t...

Call customer care and let the customer care rep know that you need your data settings I'm not at work now..but we have CSP and all they have to do is type in data settings and there is a form they click on..where they locate your model phone and yes you must be off your wireless phone..b/c for some reason Motorola doesn't have it on the website where we can send you the settings via text...so that rep will tell you what needs to be where and you'll correct manually on your cell...after that you'll have internet,,email...and text messaging settings set up...whole process may take 10 min...and then your set

All you do is this:

1) - go to Messages
2) - New MULTIMEDIA Message
3) - insert Text and/or pics,sounds,voice
4) - hit OK
5) - hit "One Time Entry" unless you have e-mail addresses stored in your phonebook
6) - enter the e-mail address, i.e - [email protected]
7) - review your info.
😎 - SEND the message.

If this doesn't work, read the following.

1) - your Message Center # may be incorrect. Call tech/cust. service.
2) - you may have MMS pay-per-use still on your acct. This will not let you send/receive messages if you have signed up for a MMS package. Have it removed.
3) you have a screwed up phone...sorry XBM it
