I added a line to my family talk plan, if I exchanged my phone (which is within the 30 days) to the Iphone, will my family talk unlimited text messages work with the iphone? will it have unlimited text also?

First of all, you shouldn't return the phone you got for the add a line, keep it as a backup. The iphone is not subsidized so you will be paying 399 for it either way. The family text should cover all phones on the account to my understanding but we(agents) aren't allowed to sell the iphone and aren't 100 percent trained on it although I do consider my staff fairly knowledgeable.

I work at a COR store, and If you have Family talk unlimited text messaging on your plan and you add the Iphone, the Unlimited text messaging package does not apply to the iphone. the iphone will only use its data plan. so if you have the 20 dollar data package, your Iphone will only have 200 text included in the package. I hope this answers your question.

I've had several customers come to me and inform me that they've been told that it would be lumped in - however as stated in weeeee's post, the iphone will NOT attach itself to the family messaging. You would need to be on the $40 iphone plan in order to have unlimited messages.

Well I called 611 and talked to sales and I asked them about this, they checked with their manager and they said it would use the unlimited messages. Now my local store (company owned) said it would but the iphone could not be the main phone on the account, (which the iphone will be replacing the main phone), but the person from AT&T sales said that didn't matter either. 😕

It will attach to the family unlimited and it doesn't matter if it is the main phone on the account or not. I was in the first call center to take iphone calls when it was released and still take the iphone call and no other type of call

I would just like to restate that the Iphone will NOT use the family talk unlimited text messaging. Unfortunately not all at&t reps are educated the same. I have had plenty of customer misinformed about this and they come back to my COR store with a huge bill because they have been misinformed. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.

Two different customer service representatives have checked my account to ensure that the Family Talk Unlimited text message package did indeed cover one of my secondary lines. And it does.

However, it is important note that the iPhone in question is NOT the primary phone on the account.

I think it's funny that there is so much back and forth.

I've seen bills people!!! BILLS! People come into my store and scream and holler about texting overages because someone told them they had unlimited texting on all their phones - including their iphone. They were appaled to see $300 in overages - and then I had to explain to them why that was.

the iphone does NOT NOT NOT get covered by family messaging.

I know you all want to hear that it does, but it's just not true.

Well at least it's in my account notes that I was told it was. I made sure that it was clarified in there so that, when bill time comes, AT&T gets stuck with it.

I'll let you know if I get any surprises in the mail in about a week.

yes it does. check csp. if it didn't then you should have called in and got it credited. if it didn't then there was a billing error. the family text plan will cover all lines on the account and o...

This is why as an AT&T rep I have an issue with some (not all) COR reps.

You make my job so much harder.

Take a look under the details for the iphone plans. It shows that the iphone will be included with the unlimited messaging... regardless of what data plan it was on.

I made it maybe four posts down, couldn't take it anymore.
