New Phone, which one?

I've got a buddy in DC that isn't terribly phone savy. He doesn't care about features galore, but wants a SOLID phone that makes good calls, and he doesn't want to be laughed at cause his phone looks ancient.

(He's still got a nokia bar from 2002 or something. It's starting to crap out on him.)

I don't have AT&T up here in Idaho, so I'm asking you guys: which phone should he either upgrade to, or buy outright?

Thanks ahead.

N82

Is he really concerned with being laughed at because of his cell phone? Im afraid he has larger issues to deal with.

Well, he's a mild sociophobe.

N82? How much outright and how much with a 2 year upgrade?

Obviously he doesn't care THAT much about how his phone looks. He's had a nokia bar phone from 2002 for the last 3 years.
