Question about the Blackberry Pearl
How does the SureType keyboard work? Is it like the T9 keypad except it has two letters instead of 3 or 4? Or do you press one side to get one letter and press the other side to get another letter?
I am looking at the Pearl (or Pearl 2) being my next phone and was wondering. Thanks.

you treat it like a regular qwerty keyboard...when typing dont look at what is coming up on the screen just hit space and it should display the right word....suretype is like T9 but on roids...the more you type the smarter it gets...EX: when typeing (when) you hit the button once even though the letter you want is the second one on the key...suretype sees the pattern in which you type and brings up the most common word used with that pattern

Sweet! Thanks. I think I will wait for the Pearl 2. It has a better camera and HOPEFULLY AT&T will keep the WiFi. I don't see why they wouldn't.

the 8310 wouldnt be a bad option...it dosnt have WIFI but you get the 2mp camera with built in GPS...plus the Roxio Media manager that the 8310 comes with makes it alot easier to tranfer movies and MP3's...but I understand wanting WIFI...I cant waite for a curve with WIFI and 3G and built in GPS with 2mp camera

Phonescoop says it has WiFi. Being that the phone is only available for SunCom currently, could AT&T be "crippling" that feature?

I dont think so our 8820 is WIFI so I dont think that would be the thing....there are alot of phones out thier that I think we should have but we dont...we just got our version of the motoQ a couple months ago and the Q series has been out for 2 years...so not having a WIFI 8310 when another carrier dose dosnt surprise me, this company works in weird ways sometimes

Call me crazy, but I hate SureType, or T9, or any other type of predictive text. I don't want the machine guessing what word I'm trying to type, I want to tell it what to do and it does it. I had a BB 7100 (predecessor to the Pearl) that had the 2 letters per key and it drove me nuts trying to send the shortest text messages. I had to get rid of it after a month.

blackberry.com has very good online tutorial explaining how it all works.
