What's that noise????

I have noticed that AT&T handsets have a noise to them, as if the network is trying to communicate with them. I did not notice this with my VZW handsets, so I am thinking it is a GSM thing.

Can anybody tell me what the noise is all about???

Could be interference. A lamp gives off some. But its a not common like a microwave. But it is possible.

It is a common occurrence for a nearby GSM handset to induce a "dit, dit di-dit, dit di-dit, dit di-dit" output on PAs, wireless microphones, home stereo systems, televisions, computers, cordless phones, and personal music devices.
