Don't order online or via the phone. Read a few of the nightmare stories on here to find out why.

...qualifying that further, by saying "some", not "all" reps...(running 'n ducking for cover)...

Well, you have to do your homework and check info online and via telesales, asking questions at all places and comparing notes. I found that telesales knew nothing, they actually told me anything to make a sale; that's where my misinformation came from. Cingular store rep was the one telling the truth. 😉

The same deals a new customer or an existing legacy cingular customer eligible for upgrade can get. Basically any offer you see online, @ the store or w/ telesales you can get.

I thought so too - but I visited a cingular store (private - i guess) and the rep there
said he can't help me. As an ATT customer,
I cannot get those deals and even if I am eligible, they can't match it...

is this a abnormality ? should I get better luck at another cingular store ?

They can't match online pricing is what he's saying.

Retail stores and Telesales have their own pricing... Different than online.

If you want to get the online pricing the best thing to do is to go to http://www.attws.com and click on Upgrade my phone!

Put in your info, choose your phone, etc... It will automatically start the Migration process and the pricing for phones is the same as cingular.com (attws.com is more reliable though.)

I agree with speck 100%! Their website can't be any worse than ours, anyway.

You can only migrate single lines online. 😡 When you ask anyone from cingular when you can migrate Family lines online, they have no clue when this will be allowed. 🙄

Migrate them one at a time then split them into one account and put them on a Family Talk.

Reason we're not providing the option online right now is because ATTWS allowed lines from different markets to be on a Family Talk... We do not... All the lines on the Family Talk have to be in the same market in order to Family Talk. If they are not, the lines outside of your market have to be relocated.

It's not possible to migrate them one at a time online is it? The only reason I want to migrate the family plan online is to take advantage of the online prices, which seem to differ greatly from telesales and corporate stores especially. Sometimes as much as $100-$150. ☚ī¸

I can't warn you enough not to do it online. If anything errors you'll have no individual person to contact about it.

No offense to you, but this is what "erks" me. I wish, and I'm sure you wish too, that things like this would have been ironed out sooner. So customers like myself would not need to go into a store and pay an extra 50-150 per handset(depending on model) just to get a migration done correctly. Who is to say it won't get messed up in the store anyways, then I end up paying that extra money just for someone to tell me "sorry for your trouble" in person. đŸ¤Ŗ I do understand what you're saying about going into a store though. I'll just wait and hope it gets ironed out sooner rather than later. 🙄

Yup, I wish it worked smoothly too... the nice thing about a store isn't really having one specific person to say "sorry", it's to have one specific person to yell at if it's not taken care of. We all know how hard it is to gat a call back from anyone. As a sales rep, I know for certain I'll fix my customers problems so that I may keep my comission, as well as avoid conflicts.

On another note, I've now had a kid pee in my store AND vomit on the carpet. If you have kids, please order online 😉

I factored in the shipping costs I'd have to pay per phone, and it actually came out about the same as if I'd gone into a store (before rebates).

I am usually a huge fan of buying online, but I'm glad I bought my phones at a Cingular store. The two salespeople in the store provided excellent customer service. I hate to pay extra for "personal service" when I know more than the salesperson and get treated poorly. But in this case I was more than willing to pay a bit more for great customer service both before and after the sale.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to Migrate them one at a time... As far as online..> i suggest doing it through attws.com and clicking on Upgrade your phone!

It is a 2 line ATT familyshare account. Not 2 different phones/plans on one account. Does that make a difference, I'd assume it would? Hell, when I get home I'll try to migrate it seperately and see what happens. 😕

No dice.
So far,

a) went to the store (what i mentioned before)

b) I also tried doing this online - against
all of your recommendations - I was not going to
hit "Submit" in the end but I wanted to see what
the work flow was... Sure enough,
once I selected the online deals, and put
in my #s for number portability, the resulting
page said that I have to go thru "ATT Migration Flow"

c) Soo00oooo - I followed the link (which is really the "upgrade" link from the ATT site
and tried to migrate there - Now the site says
that it is sorry (I felt its pain - riiight),
that it cannot process an equipment upgrade online and I have to visit a store...

so we are back to stores - now the store rep
(see my notes from...

OK, NO store can match online pricing, they're not allowed. To match online pricing, especially with the issue you got, call 18666891876.
