Does anybody know if we (the ones on the GSM side) will notice any difference? More capacity, better call quality? or perhaps faster data?

I know that. I just think that they could be converting some TDMA towers to GSM. Especially in those critical areas. AT&T has kept a tight lip about what exactly they plan on doing with those TDMA towers...

I am sure that the TDMA towers have GSM transmitters on them. It would seem a waste if they do not. Even more so that ATT and tmobile share towers in allot of areas as to allot of the CDMA carriers. You can put quite a bit on the tower. Just the person that owns them gets the highest point of the tower. ANd GSM and CDMA can not co-locate on one.

TDMA will be kept on to capture the roaming revenues from customers of regional carriers and customers from Canada and Mexico. The only thing that will not exists anymore is Analog... 😉
