I recieved my monthly and I must say, WOW. What the hell is going on?
Here are my issues...
I was billed $5.20 for calling my friend in New York. When I called her again I wasn't charged a cent.
Another date, I dialed my own number to access my voicemail, I was charged $14.80 for the call. This also happened again where I was charged $0.40.
Again, calling my friend in New York, it charged me $0.80 for the call. When I called her some 9 hours later, no charges. What gives?

I was also charged twice for MEdia Works. The standard charge of $19.99 and a second charge for MEdia Works for $15.99.
On top of which, it states my minutes included in my Rollover 600 plan at 480. I used 579 minutes. I was char...

if this is your first statement than you have zero rollover minutes. you don't get rollover until your first full month. sounds like you went over your minutes.
...
But I have 600 minutes on my plan. It says I only have 480. And I only used 579. Meaning I should have 21 minutes to spare, how could I have possibly gone over?
...
480 plan minutes? i haven't seen the bill so, i'd recommend calling customer service, they can probably clear up your confusion.
...
but since our CC is closed on Sundays ( so lame âšī¸ ) your going to have to wait till Monday.
I have had alot of people come up to me and ask why they got charged for LD, voicemail and calling the 2nd phone on their shared plan. When Cingular gets their act together and gets with AT&T to set up a decent billing proccess all will be great in Cingular land ~

Dude, I'm in here right now. Well, for another 7 minutes...
...
What happened to you art...happened to me, too...something to do woth that media works package i was charged $260.00 and they lowered down to $75.00 so trust me they'll fix it...just dont bitch, moan, or complain to 'em.....
...
Obvisouly this was a prorated invoice! The media works charges are for the 1st full month plus the prorated portion of the remaining of the current month. 480 min, they are supposed to give the full bucket of peak minutes during the prorated period. Odd.
...
I know this has been the case with more than several customers I've spoken with, especially with the first bill, not understanding it. DON'T goo solely off the usage summary. Also, is it possible the call(s) you were charged for, and then not were a peak (daytime) call vs. an offpeak (night) call? Also, look at the dates. If you were charged for calls on one date, but not the next make sure you aren't going from weekday-weekend. Also, look at the type of call, was it mobile-mobile and then the next one is standard? That's often the case with seemingly spuratic charges for calls. Also, be sure you are reading all different categories as well through your detailed call list...peak, off peak, weekend, and M2M...If you find a call that is not ma...

Depends on his market. CARE markets don't prorate, I THINK Telegence markets prorate the minutes...

In terms on the one call costing money and then the next not costing money, you need to keep in mind "delayed billing" What happens is that when you make a call it is not automaticallt reported to the company to deduct from your minuts. Depending on whose network you were on while making the call it can take up to 60 days for us to receive the notice that you made a call. It is usually within the billing cycle. So you have a bucket of minutes you make a 10 minute call in the morning of Tuesday from T-Mobile tower, then you call the same number in the afternoon from a Cingular tower. We will deduct the cingular call from you mins first because we know that one almost immediately, but we may not get the t-mobile tower call until 6 days later a...

delayed billing doesn't always mean late as in from last bill cycle, it could just be a few days. In terms of credits, i can only speak to ATTWS service, it is written in the T&C's that any delayed usage will be billed in the month it is reported, not made. So we don't offer credit. Most reps will as a onetime courtesy off a portion of the overag charges if there is any, which is funny because most subscribers often will have delayed billing on their invoices, but do not think anything of it unless it causes them to go over. so i personally will offer a one time courtesy of 50% of the delayted billing cost if they go over. But that is a courtesy so it is up to the rep what they credit if anything. This is one of those situations where someon...

It doesnt matter how many mintues you have. Cingular bills in advance. So if this is your first months bill its prorated for two months. Thats why you have partial charges. Also, for your first month you do not get roll over or the full ammount of anytime minutes. Each rate plan had its own cycle, and depending upon when you signed up and where you fall in the cycle is how they detemin how many minutes you get in the first month. Your next bill won't be so bad.
...
I know the cell phone companies bill in advance, so technically when your contract is up (especially if you don't renew), why aren't you entitled to that "advance" month(s) payment(s) as a refund? Just wondering since I'm not in the biz.
...
Thats a really good question and I called around to different customer services for different companies, and the answer I got was they hold it as paperwork/processing fee. Kinda like the same way they charge you for activation, which is really just the paperwork to get ya going or ending, whichever the case may be. I don't know if that sounds right to me tho. It would be nice to get a refund. đ
...
No, because the cancellation is to the end of the current billing cycle. The MRC in advance covers your service to that cancellation date.
...
Thanks. That sounds a lot better than what customer care told me. I didn't think that sounded right.

Depends on what tower you grabbed. We get usage reports for our towers before usage on roaming partners. Possibly that timeframe is when you went over your minutes?

as far as the minutes of use and your media works package, if this was your first full month you were probally prorated. check your monthly service charge. ie: 49.99 plan...charged 30.00 or something like that. when we prorate your bill, your minutes are also prorated. wich means you have less....so you can go over minutes easier. ill try to explain. say your Rate plan is 49.99 a month. you get 600 daytime unlim mtm and nw. you also have a package for 2.99 that gives you 100 txt messages.(this is not based on actual...just example so for the trolls and number crunchers...chill the f*** out and realize its an example.) anyway. say that on the above plan you just start service and only get it for 15 days of your bill cycle. so, what we do is ...

I just got off of the phone with Cingular CC, they said the dollar amounts I was charged for the calls was because they were placed on "roaming towers". So my next question was, "Doesn't Cingular NOT charge for roaming?". Well that all depends on the plan I have. The one that I have actually doesnt charge for roaming, so yeah they charges will be taken off.
I also can't believe calling my voicemail uses up my minutes, do all carriers charge you for accessing your voicemail box? That's insane. And if I access my voice mailbox by dialing my own number, shouldn't that fall under the "free mobile to mobile" category? Even if its my own phone im calling from my phone? đ Can't speak for everyone, but as for me I have no service com...

They show up as CN4N, whatever that means. I still think calling my own number to access my voicemail should be considered Free Mobile To Mobile, it seems like the most logical thing. The CC rep. was at least very helpful, A++.

Here's another example of what happens when you don't read your Terms and Conditions. Anyone can tell you that when you call voicemail, you use your anytime minutes.

Not when you have any Mobile-to-Mobile minutes, they are supposed to come out of those FIRST.
