Handset question

Okay, so it appears that the base iPhone plan is based on the 450 minutes for 40.00, unlimited media net for 15.00, and 200 texts for 5.00 = 60.00.

PDA's like the BB Curve get charged 30.00 for unlimited data/internet. Not sure why it is 15.00 more than unlimited media net, but it is.

Any other phones in at&t's stable that are would qualify for the specs above @ 60.00 a month that are more PDA than the iPhone is?

No

PDAs and Smartphones require a PDA/Smartphone package for internet access which is $30 a month. If you don't plan on using the internet, then by all means don't get the feature. There is no other option though.

So...if Apple wasn't so involved with the pricing of the phone and its plans, would the iPhone fall under the 30.00 PDA/Smartphone category?

Yes, it will still have its own plan. But it is very likely that it'll be more expensive since the 3G iPhone will use more data

Not really. Do 3G phones and 2G phones have separate Media Net plans? And it wouldn't transfer more data, it's simply faster. If someone is going to check the headlines on CNN it's gonna take the same usage, just different loading times.
