there have been rumors here and from some of the other stores in our chain have said its off their order form. When they called to find out why they said it was cancled. I was just wondering if anyone had different or more reliable info.

Nothing reliable from me, just what I've heard through our market people.

They also told us to hold onto the POP material on Wednesday during our meeting....

cool. i was really ticked when i heard that it was cancled. i'll let the other guys i work with to not be mad at sony. we're already mad at ATT so we needed to focus our attention on the maker not the carrier.

AT&T is probably trying to save up several phones so they can release them and market them under the same campaign. (Curve, Shine, Duo).

It makes sense as they can market them together and save some money by combining them. There isn't really a rush to get a 5MP phone to market as there aren't really any other ones available from a US carrier at this point. That, plus they might want to make sure we have enough inventory so we don't go through the same crap we are going through with the Shine and w580.

It'd be nice to have a steady supply of stock that they are advertising.

also, some of the reps on howard forums, looked up the phone in their internal insurance system and its still listed as "Do Not Insure - inelligible" for insurance.

Of course it is, it's gonna be a rediculous price when it comes out...

The v9 is still ineligible too, and it's been out for months now.

Our RAE said its cause Sony wanted a $299 price point and ATT wanted a $199 price point. Also another rep in our chain said the camera is kinda crappy for 5MP.

no more than $400 I think the K850 should be. Even though I already have it, I'm just curious, are there any rumors about the Nokia N95???

Is it a smartphone, or a medium phone?

It's not really a smart phone. It's more of a high end camera phone. It has touch sensitive short cut keys, 5 megapixel (auto focus) camera, 3G, among other features,

On a side note, I have an unlocked k850i and it was working great until the center touch sensitive shortcut key malfuncitioned and will now "press" itself. I cant fix it with a resore or anything. So perhaps this is why the phone is either delayed or not coming.

Maybe it's too much phone for an American carrier to deal with?

Well, Yesterday everyone emailed me all day saying that our AT&T rep confirmed to our 8 stores that the K850 is going to be released.

The beef between AT&T and Sony over the 200.00 - 300.00 price is going to end soon, because AT&T found it to their benifit in the long run to be the FIRST to carry a real digitial camera phone.

I guess the American Market still has a chance, he said once the Sony Commercials they have run over seas for the 850 start to launch the week after that they should be released at the Cor stores.

I will believe it when I see it....*fingers crossed*

Well if it does come out, get insurance on it, cause the short cut keys mess up a lot. Mine did and I have checked some sony ericsson forums and I am not the only one

this phone is listed in att's system as do not insure. like any high end phone they offer, they dont permit insurance. also, i wouldnt worry about the bugs, att will get them sorted out before they release the phone.
