I used to work for at&t wireless and there is one policy i think cingular should pick up. That is have users on the same billing account with different area codes. Why can u not have one billing account with the users in different area codes? i have worked on many business account where there was 13(etc.) users with different areas codes because they all were in separate states. From what i understand with cingular where ever resides the user are forced to have the same area code. maybe this has changed, but if not many business cus.,parents with kids in college, or what ever the case is will be not be very upset.

On TMobile different sub users can have different area codes as long as they're on individual plans. On a family plan, all lines have to be on area codes from the same submarket. This is due to federal tax regulations regarding primary place of use, which are intended to prevent someone from activating an account in say Oregon where there are no sales taxes, leaving the billing address in Oregon, then changing to a NY phone number and avoiding the 15% or so taxes for that state. I would assume that this is at least part of the reason for the restriction.

Yeah...that's the exact thing Cingular does. You can have every CARE area code there is on the accoutn as long as they are on individual plans, or even same area code phones on a ft...

but FT has to be the same area code.

No, you CAN have differnt area codes on the same account, but all the numbers on the account have to be in the SAME MARKET area.

As an example:

AWS let you have a FT plan with a line in LA, Dallas, Chicago, NYC, and Florida.

Cingular doesn't allow that, but you COULD have an account/FT plan with a 212 number from manhattan, a 917 number from the Bronx, a 646 number from Long Island, and a 732 number from Newark. Since these are all the same market area.

De nada... It's weird, though, because business pooling plans can have numbers from all over the place, go figure...

AT&T Wireless had the same issue in TDMA accounts unless they were in a business account all numbers must have an adjacent area code belonging to one specific market this not including any shared plans.

However on the GSM side, ATTws did allow customers to have shared plans for numbers from different markets for example a parent living in NY and son living in LA.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for Cingular to adopt some changes, but it is also costly trying to map all customer care dbases in to one pool like ATTws had it.

It wouldn't be so bad except we have 2 different account databases.
