There is a way…
….to settle the argument once and for all about which mobile carrier is superior to all. Customers buy a phone and activate service w/o having to commit to a contract (activation fees remain in effect, $20 bucks or so), and then, we all sit back and see what happens.
I agree that in the short run the results would be disastrous for carriers due to lost customers and folks constantly jumping ship. However, in the long run, all carriers, or at least those that want to survive, will have to build a solid reputation on several fronts (customer care, coverage, etc.) and will no longer be able to rely on contracts to provide average service.
