About at&t's phones.

Why doesn't at&t include accesories with many of their phones anymore (i.e. memory cards, data cables, etc...)?

Basically, there are 2 reasons.

1. Minimize cost. It is bad enough that most of our customers come in wanting a "free" phone, something that really is not offered in the stores anymore.It is hard enough to convince these people to spend $59.99 and get a $30 rebate. If cables, software, etc. are included, that would raise the prices even higher, causing more angst from the customers.

2. No win situation. If ATT included memory cards, for example, it would never be the right one. If they include a 512 MB, the customer wants a 1GB. If they include a 1GB, the customer would want a 2GB. If they include a 2GB, the customer doesn't want one at all and wants to argue with you that you should deduct the retail price of the card from the price o...

plus, selling a one gig memory card for 20 bucks turns a huge profit margin over to the store! yah for price gouging!
