that is strange. So many questions come to mind...

1. Are both of you using new 64K SIM cards?

2. Do you know if your IRDB is updated?

actually its not strange well not to me.We see it here all the time. You may have different ban phones. The one with more bans will have a stronger signal. The 64K sim only makes the difference on ENS handsets, but the IRDB is Very important. Get that checked out.

Yeah, be worried, but not out of your mind. Call customer service and tell them your problem. They'll send you to tech support. And they check your IRDB for you and send you what you don't have. The IRDB is what makes your phone work so if you don't have all of them that could be your problem. Make sure you turn your phone off one time a day between 9-5. Thats when cingular sends out the updates to the phone. If the phone isn't off it can't get them. Hope this helped.

No it's not normal... The v551 is ENS capable and w/ a 64K SIM should operate better than the v220... The other reps are correct that you may have an outdated IRDB... The IRDB is the intelligent roaming database, It's a code sent to the phone that tells the carrier's switch what cell sites it can connect to and/or roam on... wether it be Cingular or another carrier or our new ATTWS towers... He may be picking up on a site your phone may not even knows exists... therefore does not request it from the switch.

To update just call cust service and ask them if your phone has it's latest IRDB... if the prob persists it may actually be an issue w/ the handset itself and i would recommend troubleshooting it. last resort would be XBM...
