I noticed a lot of unhappy folks come here to complain about their wireless experiences. As a long time wireless sales rep (for several different providers) and most importantly a long time customer (of several different providers, I thought I would share with you some tips to save yourselves alot of headache and frustration so you can enjoy your wireless experience. Oh and I posted this on the Cingular board because it seems to be the most popular.

First of all concede to the fact that wireless communication is imperfect. It will not work everywhere and all the time. No matter what provider or piece of equipment you use. Once you've come to terms with this begin searching for service.

The next step is to figure out what is going to b...

Where were you when the post "How Cingular Ruiened My Holiday...." was running wild? We could have used that logic then.
That is actually some of the best advice I've ever heard in terms of wireless shopping. 😁

Wow, that guy crying about how "Cingular Ruined His Holiday" was something else, a completel reject of society in my eyes.

People need to understand that when you order online, there is a great distance between you and the product you order. And alot can happen in the distance between you and your product. People accept that when they order online, then when something goes wrong they try blaming other people. They should blame themselves for being penny pinchers and being worried about paying and extra $50, woo! I understand some people need to save that money, and its understandable.

I'll admit, I ordered online, and I didnt have a problem. The second time I ordered for a second line, problems arose and a week went by and I still...

Lol. Couldn't have put it better myself. I did notice that he learned his lesson and went to the store when he bought TMoblie phones. That shows some sign of intelligent life. 😎

well i'm sorry to hear that you guys are still in the age of fire and tools.!! the internet has been around for quite a while. and for me this was the second mess up that happened to me in years. and people should hold both REAL PEOPLE and "people over the internet" JUST as accountable. Technology.. grow up.. how you think your cell phones work.. technology.
anyways it's pointless to argue that online cingular sucks since noone disagrees with me. but thats not smart to say that the internet isnt a good and valuable "and should be hasslefree" source.
as far as all the other points the guy has made i agree with him. about reserach and understanding that the phone wont work everywhere. that's a big thing for all carriers that i dont think man...

I wasnt singling you out. I was saying in general the internet isnt a good idea to buy service over. If it was just the equipment no problem, but signing a two year agreement electronically is in my opinion not a good idea. You are correct that there are people on the other end. Commisioned people who are many miles away from you who probably wouldnt mind making a few extra bucks by signing you up on a higher rate plan. If you complain it certaintly wont be to them because you dont know who they are or where to find them. Even though it may only be 40 bucks a month your commiting to, Thats still 960 dollars over two years that your agreeing to pay. Not to mention another couple hundred that uncle sam and the fcc are going to skim from you.

We are not in the dark ages. I always say go to the store because I've had some bad deals happen to me because of the internet. Sadly, the internet is my only option half the time. I work 40+ hours a week and go to school too! Sometimes its a toss up between getting some sleep and doing it online or not sleeping and go to the store. I really like the idea of sleep, but I know its better to go to the store for things that deal with technology and contracts.
By the way, how is it all going for you on your search for a corp store?

to the earlier post:
mmm i can totally picture your scenario... however i wish it wasnt "common knowledge" or "word of mouth". if only people explicitly knew the differences but that will never happen heh. customer service in general has a long way to go but in store it is generally a lot better and surprisingly less time. sighya.. dont let my anger from earlier make it seem like i hate every single person associated with cingular..
---
umm well i planned on going yesterday but i worked. so i might go today or tommorow.
o and i reread my terms and conditions. the funny thing is that the terms i recieved are different than the ones on the internet. the ones on the internet say to return to place of purchase, the ones i recieved mention no...

In a nut shell, tell them that you bought your phones online, and weren't happy with them or the service you recieved. Also mention you have another provider, so they won't try to sell you another phone. Make sure that the phones are disconnected and they know that. Tell them all you need to do is have them sent back, and that I, aka customer service said that they could do that for you. There shouldn't be any problem. 🙂
