No new phones. The newest one I know of is the 6560 and it was released by the FCC 9/03.

Motorola is still making phones for Nextels TDMA network, however, they feature iDEN technology (allowing for walkie-talkie feature).
Technically, Motorola is still making TDMA phones, but for Nextel only. All Cingular and AT&T TDMA phones have been discontinued.

This is where the definition of the term "TDMA" gets a bit confusing...

TDMA is a general class of digital wireless technology. It stands for Time Division Multiple Access.

There are many distinct wireless technologies that fall into the TDMA category. These include GSM, iDEN, and IS-136.

IS-136 is the one that most people mean when they say "TDMA", but "IS-136" is obviously just a wee bit unwieldy, so people just say "TDMA" instead.

But please rest assured that GSM, iDEN, and "TDMA" (IS-126) are all equally different from each other. In other words, you can't say that iDEN is TDMA without saying that GSM is also TDMA, and I don't think that's what you meant.

it is pretty widely believed within cingular they will have no tdma service by the end of 2006--as cingular is the only major carrier with tdma legacy users--and account for possibly 90% of all tdma users I suspect the timeframe for no more tdma phones is anytime from now to maybe end of 2005--its probably right around the corner
