Two SIMs?

I just upgraded my t616 to the free t637 phone (2-yr. extension). Since I'd earlier tried the Moto v551 and returned it, I also have both the 32K and the 64K SIMs.

What happens if I plug-in both SIMs? My real purpose is simply to have both phones active so I can personalize the 637 to match my settings on the 616. However, I'm also curious if I could leave the older phone in car or boat, just for backup?

You can't....put both in at once. Yes you can keep the old one if need be, but it can only be used for YOUR phone number, so don't give it to anyone.(well, the sim anyway, the phone is fair game for all cignular as long as they get their own sim)

You cannot have two phones active on one number, sorry. Only one at a time.

Actually, once you activate that new SIM card for your number, the old SIM is trash/toast. However, you CAN swap that SIM card between phones. The SIM controls the account, not the phone. Kinda like having 2-3 computers but swapping the HDD around.

Actually, (I know I'm gonna get S**T for this)but in Texas you can have two phones that ring at one number. You do however have to pay for two plans. Only in a certian market s in Texas though.

Really wouldn't apply in this case. But who sticks to the topic in this forum.

Well, your point is valid..I've heard of that..Miami used to be able to do that, too, but it's been discontinued.

Ah, my mistake. I thought you were referring to the SIM cards, not the phones. I realized that after re-reading your post! 🤭

It's ok..I was starting to talk about the sims, then i re-read HIS post and found out he meant the phones. xD

Looks like all of us need to do that "Read. Comprehend. Post." thing. 🤣

Mine says "Unregistered SIM". But I reported my phone lost or stolen.

No sorry, when you activte the new sim card, you "burn" the sim card you had before, same as if you reported it lost/stolen and acivate a replacement card, the old sim card is snet out a program to blow the little mircochipin thre card, if you flip it over you'll see the little yellow...

I didn't want to light up both phones and cause myself a problem, but the Network Knows!

Moving the newer chip to my new phone puts it on the system. Re-installing the old chip in the older phone, it immediately reports "Inactive SIM." Yet it still permits me to use all menus of the older phone, so now the new phone is about 95% customized like the 616, but with nicer screen and faster software.

Thanks for all advice. 🙂
