Buying on Amazon

I'm on ATT and I wanted to just go ahead and make it official and switch over to a Cingular plan, I know I already am kinda, and get a new phone. Is there anyway I can sign-up for a plan and get a new phone through Amazon.com and keep my current number? Phones are so much cheaper there than directly through cingular.

Also, are there going to be any advantages/disadvantages with the service or plans (not phones) if i switch right now or wait a month?

Thanks

If amazon is considered to be an "authorized agent", I don't see why they would not be able to do a migration. As far as advantages or disadvantages, I know eventually they will not allow ...

I don't know about that... Amazon does not do upgrades, nor do they do multi-line activations (family plans). I really doubt if they will do migrations.

Yeah, a migration is when you migrate from the AT&T service plan to a Cingular service plan... A Port would be if you are coming in from another company.

Very valid point... I honestly would only trust a company store, even though th 😁 ey are slightly more expensive. But you know you have someone to count on when there if there is a problem.

you actually cannot migrate service through Amazon.com. If you go through them you will be opening a new line of service, because they dont get commission for a migration. In addition I have heard nightmare stories with customers going though Amazon.com. Also going though a third party dealer means your under two contracts not just one.
