Att in Canada?

Getting ready to make the switch to ATT and need to know what options I have for Canada.

I go to Canada a few times a year for business, and now with Verizon I switch over for a few weeks at a time to their North American plan when I do.

Do I have an option like that for ATT, or will I be paying per Minute, MB, and TXT?

Thanks!

ATT does not have a Canadian plan where you are not paying roaming charges while there. There is the ATT Canada plan which runs $3.99/mo. This gives you a discounted roaming charge of $0.59 per minute. It also allows you to call Canada from the US at $0.19 per minute. Internet usage in Canada is a $.015/KB, text messages are $.50 to send and picture messages are $1.30 to send. The home pay-per-use or package rates apply to text and MMS received. Hope this helps.

Dang that is high. I did find a Iphone and PDA international plan for MB use as well. Could get expensive. I guess I will just need to fill long detailed out expense reports each month for the calls.

Uhmm ... I know this is an AT&T forum and everything ... but in this regard, VZW is much better. For voice calling, for $20 a month more your service coverage includes Canada.

And when you are not in Canada, you can always switch from the Nationwide+Canada plan to the standard Nationwide plan.

Yeah, but the phones suck. I am about ready to put my Q in the trash compacter and their are no good alternatives to trade it in for on Verizon.

As long is the coverage for ATT is ok, in my areas, (Seattle) I am going to switch. Plus the rates are soo much cheaper on ATT.

If I get a Iphone data family plan, i can get both my wife and me on a data plan for less than I am paying now for one with data and one without.

Dude, if you're leaving Verizon because you own a Q and want an iPhone, then obviously your phone sucks. Viable alternatives, though. Oh yes. Face it, what you really have is iPhone addiction. There's help for that... 😁

I'd acutally take a Black Jack 2 as well. If Verizon has anything to offer in a Treo layout that was small and worked well I would go that way.

I was hoping to go to the Helio, but I can't type of that.

Man who would have thought I would have to defend myself on the ATT board? 🤣

It will be roaming. There is quite a bit of gsm up in canada, mostly off of Fido/Rogers. If you roam once and awhile in Canada, AT&T doesn't really care and they will just charge you accordingly, but if you start reaching the 50% mark, they'll cut you.

If the alpha tag still shows att then you're not roaming.

Nobody has mentioned that for the months that you are traveling in Canada you can get Iphone data package 24.99 for 20 MBs or 59.99 for 50 MBs and with the Iphone you can turn off the data roaming so if you stay at a hotel with free wi-fi you can still use your data free 😁 from an International Provisioning Rep
