Use your brain.

They're going to take off the feature, you will get charged back on it, and your selling the consumer a product he or she has no use for.

Thank you for once again, Ill advising our customers and making them realize how stupid and or fraudulant you are

Man,
I thought this would have stopped by now, but No, I have taken off 3 peoples PDA Plans today at my Kiosk, by the request of the customer.

Sad really

Hold on now, the customers comes in and wants the damn things because of the full keyboard. Personally, I let them go with Unlimited Messaging, however I know most reps do require the PDA plan at which point they go to you apparently to remove it. If they customer wants a PDA we don't say you're not allowed.

Check your rebate forms. In every market I've been able to check they read: Requires activation on a PDA Personal Plan or a $40 or higher PDA data rate plan or a $20 or higher messaging plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher.
**Requires activation on a Blackberry Personal Plan or a $45 or higher Blackberry data rate plan or a $20 or higher messaging plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher.

In NC you have to have the Blackberry package on the phone to get the rebate, and once people have played with the internet they tend to keep it...
The people you are taking these packages off for obviously had an awful sales rep...

AND, for the most part, people want that phone for the full keyboard... we don't have a normal consumer device with a full keypad on it...

Thank you.

Alternatively, just make it clear that they won't get a rebate.

At least in my region...

The PDA plan is no longer required to get the rebate and full discount on the handset. Customers just need to get unlimited messaging. Hopefully some education will eliminated people getting features they no longer need.

Did they at least still have unlimited messaging?

I think the problem is complacency. People ASSUME that because thats the what it USED to be, thats the way it is now. I think the last 2 rebates, maybe even the last three...all thats been required is unlimited messaging. I actually almost got written up because even my manager didn't have the common sense to actually READ the new rebate forms. People just don't read or follow up anymore. Pretty sad actually.

At my store, we require the customer to get the PDA/Blackberry connect plan, and we make them sign a form stating they will keep it on the account for a minimum of 181 days, or we charge them a fee. Occasionally we will only require a messaging package, but that is rare. We will not waive the 181 day requirement under any circumstances.

Perfect.....Great Idea.

Keep in Mind....

I have heard and seen accounts get charged 100.00 when they take the PDA plan off of their phone because AT&T gave them the rebate already.

True story, I have seen this happen on two different customer accounts.

I think its halarious AT&T charges them back their 100.00 they gave them in the form of a rebate....Ohhh were those customers mad as hell too...

haha

Not even that but some stores give you a Data Discount up front, I think that's what the form pertains to. You get an extra $100 off in store for adding the plan for six months, otherwise the agent can do the chargeback of $100. Sounds like what letstalk does.

we just started that at our stores and I think its going to help. the only phones we require the full data plan is the Blackberry phones. the phone is a waste without it so its mandatory. other than that we just like to educate the customer NOT to use data if they don't have a PDA plan.

ATT should advertise any blackberry or PDA phone with data only as not to attract those buyers who do not want to pay $30 or more to use phones that can do more than the average phone. It should state right there on the website with the phone because many consumers do not know when they set their sights on the phone they want. Some of these smartphones have huge beautiful screens, megapixel cameras, full keyboards and are very customizable.

I guess some people are really that desparate for sales.
