v551 e-mail function, NOT

RADICALRACHEL

Jan 20, 2005, 1:00 PM
Since I got my phone I have been trying to get e-mail function to work. Have spoken with a total of 7 Cingular CS reps and all have said it's possible and provided set-up info. but still no go. Finally talked to tech & was told "we are not internet service providers, I don't know why CS told you we could do set-up, and here's how to circumvent that so you can e-mail photos" ??????????
Anyone know something that might help me set up my e-mail messaging?

What provider are you using and is it a pop3 or IMAP compatible email app?

The info I was given is:
sending host: cwmx.com
sending port: 25
Receiving host:pop.mail.yahoo.com
Receiving port:110

Under ISP settings:
Connection type: CSD
Dial-Up Number: +14152441012
User Name:[email protected]
Password: (unknown) entered
DNS IP:0.0.0.0.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Also, I was told it had to be Yahoo!, SBC Global, Earthlink, or AOL, is this true or can I get my work e-mail on here as well?

I dont know about Cingy's WAP e-mail client but I know ATTWS could get to nearly any POP3 or IMAP e-mail address.

Also don't know the specifics about the way that Cingy's client is on the WAP browser but the info you will need you have. Your username needs to be your e-mail address and the passwrod the account password--shouldn't be listed as [email protected] unless that is your e-mail address.

Post a list of the options you have on the e-mail setup screen (since I'm an ATTWS rep I don't know the Cingy menu).

That's the WAP settings, should be there. But, she should have her login ID for her email account she wants to access in the email settings...

WAP settings are correct. Under 'email message setup', is your email provider set to your provider, user ID your account ID (NOT Cingular ID) and password your password? That may be the issue.

Are you on a "free" yahoo account? Because the POP server information only applies if it is a paid for account, from my understanding from Yahoo.

you can multimedia message them, as long as you have the email address stored in your phone... That is a motorola thing.
