Is there real choice?

I see the AT&T 500 min Family Plan for 3 lines at $69.98pm. It says it requires a 2-year contract. If I already have my own phones do I get any discount? In other words, do I get anything better than another customer who comes along and buys three subsidized phones at the same time?

I see that the plans are all nationwide with free US roaming. I am relocating to the Silicon Valley area and won't hardly travel out of there. Are there other competiting carriers that offer "local" coverage and usage?

Thanks.

You could get Metro or Cricket. They do the "local" unlimited thing. It will probably be more for 3 lines tough (they charge $40 a line here).

The reason it requires an agreement is that all FT lines require a ONE year agreement to start. If you go into a store you can get setup on a one year agreement.

As you just stated it would be cheaper than Metro or Cricket.

if you go to a company owned store they will be able to set you up with no commitment, but there will be an activation fee per line.

no. they have done away with all non m2m plans. you can bring your own phone or purchase phones at no commitment but get the benifit of all plans. the only reason to do a contract now is a discount on a phone or getting an iPhone.

I think a previous poster was right about having to have a 1 year agreement on all FT lines.

But I dont see why you couldnt just activate your lines on no commit on 3 individual plans then call up care and have them combined.
